It is 1984; you have a Heavyweight, face first brawler, with o.k. stamina but a knockout punch, who has just won gold at Super Heavyweight in the Olympics (sorry Tyrell, you were flattened in the box-offs,) but has anything but a world class chin, and needs at least 100 rounds before being exposed to world class pros.

How do you guide him to a world championship?

First thing is to get a top trainer and in that timeframe you had Steward and Futch. Dundee was kind of winding down so he may or may not be another guy. But you have to have a high pedigree guy in there.

Any face first guy you'd matchup against slow ponderous heavies. No jabbers and no movers and no punchers, just the catchers. No southpaws of course and just guys that had a history of being easy to hit and easy to stop. Of course, face only older heavies and don't fight the other up and coming prospects.

Fight a few times for the big exposure and most times in small venues not facing live opponents. Work to keep that undefeated record and in about the 12th fight or so go after an old name opponent. In 85 that might be a Scott Ledoux or John Tate==guys whose sell by date has long since expired but still have a name. Depending on this outcome, take the fighter oversea's for a few more gimme bouts and fight the shopworn european types. And right here would likely be up around 100 rounds and lets say an 18 to 22 fight undefeated record. Then lots of moulding and shaping by that trainer and sign up with a promoter for big $$$ and opportunites.
