Ok lets break this down somewhat. Microsoft is seen as having a monopoly in Europe. Anti-monopoly laws have forced their hand where there being asked to remove integral parts of there operating system. Facts remain Linux Unix Apple are all big in the market place with there own market share. Despite "competition" being present there seen as having a monopoly and currently are fighting litigation to break them up because of their sheer size. The UFC is no different.

Now im not expecting the UFC to give anyone any handouts or charity. That would be plain stupid. But to glibly suggest they dont have the biggest hand in this market place is even more stupid. If this was a craps table the UFC would have the most chips.

Now i cant fault Dana at all for his marketing strategy. As long as his brand is in the press and being talked about thats good for his buiness. But dont kid yourself for a minute that he's looking after the interests of the sport. He looks after the UFC and that is it. He doesnt work with any other organisations as to boxing orgs and the same goes for sanctioning bodies like WAMMA. When he notices an opporunity go by he immediately gets his propoganda machine in full tilt as he did with Fedor Kimbo PRIDE etc etc. Thanks to Kimbo the same man he said was a circus act he's raking it in on TUF.

Dana's mouth belies the person that he is. If your willing to blindly ignore all of this because of his success due largely in part to the Ferttita brothers and their endless capital reserves then theres not much point in us pursuing this debate.

They have the biggest hand because they ****ing earned it, that is not a monopoly. What the **** do you expect? Them to give away market share? What exactly is your problem with them having their market share? They earned it through completion, if somebody else wants it, they can try to outcompete them.

He is competing with his competitors, what the **** more do you want?

It's easy as **** to put on an MMA show. WFA did it, Affliction did it, EliteXC did it, IT IS EASY AS HELL.

The difference is that the UFC is good at it, and the others are bad, that is not a ****ing monopoly, that is one company being skilled, and the others being ****.

Of course its easy thats why all the ones you mentioned have gone to the wall? Captial is everything in business. The UFC have that in abundance. Not sure what school of economics you went to but in order to start up a business thats PROFITABLE you need the readies. In MMA thats a VERY tough business. More so than boxing infact.

Honestly; you go from "competition is what makes the sport great" to "Dana is being mean because he is actually competing" just because you don't like the UFC.

If competition is good for the sport, and Dana is competing, logic obviously follows that Dana competing is good for the sport. If he was helping out other shows he wouldn't be competing, and he wouldn't put on as good of cards because he wouldn't be trying to kill his opponents, which for the billionth time is the essence of competition, TO BEAT YOUR ENEMIES.

Are you out of your mind? How much capital do you think the IFL, a publicly traded company burned through because they were simply not good enough? Same for EliteXC and all the rest, they had plenty of capital, they lacked the skill.

It's survival of the fittest; it's easy to start an MMA show, which means there is no barrier to entry, one of the keys of a monopoly. The difference is that its very ****ing hard to run one succesfully. Dana does it, the others can't.

That has nothing to do with monopoly, that has to do with Dana knowing what hes doing, and the others not.

O stop talking so much crap. So let me get this the only person in the world that can run an MMA organisation properly is Dana White?:lol: Well Wall St might be knocking on his door soon for some tips.

Now here is the definition of a monopoly:

In economics, a monopoly (from Greek monos / μονος alone or single + polein / πωλειν, to sell) exists when a specific individual or an enterprise has sufficient control over a particular product or service to determine significantly the terms on which other individuals shall have access to it.[1][clarification needed] Monopolies are thus characterized by a lack of economic competition for the good or service that they provide and a lack of viable substitute goods.[2] The verb "monopolize" refers to the process by which a firm gains persistently greater market share than what is expected under perfect competition.

Now you tell me what ECONOMIC COMPETITION that exists to rival the UFC.

Judging by results, he is clearly the best at it by a long ****ing mile.

sufficient control over a particular product or service to determine significantly the terms on which other individuals shall have access to it

That is called barrier to entry; in a business such as making planes, there is significant barriers to entry, in MMA there is NONE.

They don't exist; any idiot can put up money and start an MMA show and put the product out there. EliteXC went from nothing to prime time network television in no time at all.

The difference, as always, is that they were not run as well as the UFC.

The UFC cannot prevent an org from doing whatever that org wants, they can only outcompete them; which they do, and you get your panties in a twist.

Again; you don't want competition, you want collusion.

What? It simply is a fact. Dana, Rogan, Mir have all started this crap. They've been doing this for years in order to try and justify their sport to the mainstream. Whether it be Mir calling it "pillow fighting," Rogan saying boxing is DEAD, ineffective in MMA, no future stars etc. The bottom line is they are both completely wrong. Not only that those pillow fighters who fight at SMW light up Mir so bad on his feet, Mir is actually starting to come around on boxing. Dont get me started on Rogan. Dibella and Rogan made themselves look like idiots. But because MMA fans are so stupid they thought Rogan won the debate because he yelled and screamed like a little baby. Bottom line is Rogan has been COMPLETELY wrong about everything he said but people are too delusional to actually review what he said.

There are plenty of fighters with degrees in boxing. Klits, Barrera are some off the top of my head and there are more.

And what in the world does that have to do with anything? Who cares. You ever consider why there are more fighters with degrees in MMA than in boxing? Wrestling is primarily the reason why. Notice how there arent many BJJ fighters with degrees? And I guarantee you there will be less degrees in the future in MMA.

Doesnt Liddell have a degree. End of discussion. The guy is 40 years old, has a mohawk with tattoos on his head for ****s sake.

Is Arum an idiot? Yes he is. But hes no bigger of an idiot than Rogan, Dana and all the other UFC mouthpieces.

They failed because there economic model rewarded the fighters more than they had capital reserves. Please do not insinutate that no one else in the business of MMA isnt capable of elementry maths or even running a business for that matter. if Zuffa pulled the out of the UFC tommorow thats it Dana out of a job. Granted the UFC has an economic model that is VERY self rewarding. When low carders are getting paid $4000 theres a big problem considering the UFC is worth over a billion.
The other organisations went out of business for one reason alone money.

The UFC has the casino's of the Ferrtita's as well as Dana being a 10% stakeholder. Now as iv said already i dont want any collusion or any handouts. The UFC owes nobody anything. But as iv said to you umpteen times it is a monopoly and it does have a massive stranglehold within MMA because there is no immediate competition capable of competing with there economic might. When you can name me one organisation that can compete in the same arena as the UFC as i asked you earlier then get back to me.

Jesus christ. That is so wrong its ridiculous.

UFC is successful because they had a ridiculous head start. Simple as that.

Oh, they are a monopoly because they were first now? Interesting.

Never mind the fact that they went through 2 sets of management before Zuffa, almost dieing in the process, were smaller than Pride for a period of time, or that there were several promotions around BEFORE the UFC, or that there were several more organizations before the Zuffa UFC.

Or that several companies had good success, and some continue to, but eventually failed because they were failed in competition.

So its "competition is good, unless its the UFC competiting?"

Just making sure I understand your "logic."

Stop waxing philosophical. No ones doubting Dana's ability to get the UFC where he has done but the fact the Fertitta's brothers was behind it DID HELP. They nearly went bust in 2004. If they never had the neccesary cash injection from the Feritta's they would have filed for chapter 11.

Obviously it helped, just as all of the other companies financing helped.

It's not like there are a shortage of people out there with money to put on an MMA show or at least secure the financing for it.

EliteXC existed for almost no time at all before they had the full financial muscle of the CBS empire behind them, much larger than the Fertittas, they failed.
