You can't blame Froch for running from DeGale and retiring

Calling him a ducker is obviously going too far but it was annoying watching him pretend he was super keen to fight Golovkin when he clearly had no intention of doing so.

Degale would of ended up in the same crumpled up mess that Groves did at the hands of the cobra

I do blame him actually, because he slagged Calzaghe for doing the same to him and then has the gall to do it to DeGale.

And even to this day he's still using Golovkin's name to keep himself relevant.

Froch was/is an excellent fighter but he needs to either put up or shut up....or at least not have an agenda when speaking about certain fighters.

Yeah it is irritating but then again he is irritating on the whole. IB also makes a valid point in him constantly whinging about being frozen out by Joe Calzaghe's retirement only to do the exact same thing to Degale.

    Very true.

Froch comes across very insecure imo, constantly needed to be reminded how good he is.

For sure. He's admitted he's suffered serious doubts about his ability before, particularly when he was an amateur. I suspect his braggadocio is more for his own benefit than ours.

Degale would have been very awkward for Froch, but he has a tendency to take rests and back himself up on the ropes.... you can't do that against Froch.

Very simple really, when Froch called out Joe he was a young, hungry fighter still looking to win world titles, when he retired rather than face DeGale, he was old and had achieved his career goals. Why shouldn't someone's perspective change with age and circumstances? Sometimes it's all too apparent people on here understand boxing but have no comprehension of the human psyche...

You are right about his insecurities though, it was those which drove him on to train hard and make the most of somewhat limited abilities. Groves and Paddy made the mistake in the build up to the second fight by playing on those insecurities thinking Froch's self doubt would undermine his performance. It had the opposite effect. Like with many boxers, Carl learned to channel his fears into primary motivators. We saw the outcome...

this is something I agree with, carl doesn't seem to feel natural being called a champion, I think he sees himself as a plain man on the street.

froch destroys chunky, but aged 37/38, prime chunks might very well outpoint him.
there no problem with this it would generally be the case with anyone that age at world level. even Hopkins had lost his elite edge by age 38/39.
