    I love defensive boxers.

Pep, Locche, Canto, Whittaker, Mayweather Jr (at SFW), Ali (pre exile), Benitez (amazingly gifted), Wilfredo Gomez (at times aswell)

Hey man, yeah watching some clips from Pep I do see the resemblance to you that JG mentioned. I like the way he got into his opponent's range and made him miss. Did you check out the other clip I linked?

He was hard to hit, busy with his feet, on his toes and mobile as well as that great reaction time...but I don't think he belongs alongside the boys mentioned so far.

You know, watching these guys, I start to think that a lot of it is focus. It's like they're so in tune with their opponent's slightest movement there's a invisible rubber band connecting them at the shoulders.

yeh i have seen every bit of footage of Locche that i know about and the guy is a master. So hard to hit in the pocket.

same he was more a classical boxer than a so called defensive wizard

I like to think i am an alright defensive boxer. And my head movement is kind of instinctive i kinda focus on it and just do it. Very hard to concentrate though and i sometimes lose it and get clocked with an allmighty haymaker. haha

i really do appreciate guys like that. Also Duran is a defensive guy i missed out

Something is lost though, right? In terms of offense? Maybe the best thing any young fighter can do is honestly assess their gifts, also weaknesses and tailor their style accordingly.

offence can be lost yes, and you can make up for it with counter punches but it is tricky and you can fall into a counterpuncher mentality which is hard to break.

My offence isnt too great anyway so i focus on openings and counter shots with plenty of angles, as im not a hard hitter i look to be a sharp hitter.

Obviously being a counter puncher means you can lose a few close decisions due to lack of agresion so my styles abit more aggresive using angles now

One thing to note I think, is how you, a boxer, can control the fight by moving. It's obviously not always the aggressive guy who's controlling the pace and space of a fight. So, in a sense, that is offense. And when Pep came in he was hard to hit 'cause he was in three or four different places before peppering his guys with both hands. Not much on those shots, but they counted.

yeh you have to have good ring generalship and alot of taht is confidence which i lack in the ring. In sparring i do it all the time like Pep stuff with the good movemnt in with fast shots then pivot to my right.

I just dont have the confidence in fights
