Great job, BTW GPater in breaking down into those categories those different type defensive styles. That provides grist for the mill to keep this a long running thread.
Wilfred Benitez, before he suddenly lost it all was a joy to behold...he was so effortlessly great and had a rare, appealing sort of cocky arrogance about him that I got a kick out of..it was different..he wasn't obnoxious or a ***** at all with it, but rather, was like a cool, superior alien from another galaxy or something..I always enjoyed his performances, especially the ones against Duran and Hope.
i love that description of Benitez is their any fighter you feel combines all 3 of these aspects of defence? I think Floyd Mayweather Jr combines those 3 aspects brillaintly (a SFW version). He would use his shoulder roll defence to parry shots and move his head to avoid shots, if he started to get over run hed move gracefully away making use of his movement.
Even in the staredown with Leonard, Benitez was cocky...to make it seem that he was the taller man..and Leonard was by a fraction or two, he tilted his head back slightly so that at that angle, he was actually looking down on Leonard...
