You do realise Cleverly is following the exact same path as Calzaghe, right?

    I'm not sure

If he fights 1 good fighter, 1 average fighter, 1 drained fighter, and 2 ancient fighters and beats them all....he just might be a legend.

There's not many out there for him. He can beat Shumenov, Uzelkov, Krasniqi, Tony Bellew,...etc...

I don't know if Dawson will be good again at 175, but he probably will.

Pascal might beat him but u never know what Pascal will show up.

Cloud is still a top fighter even though he has struggled and looked very average of late. I think Cloud beats him.

If Hopkins has anything left he beats Cleverly.

  5. LHW is a barren wasteland. Who can he fight realistically? Pascal and Cloud are tied up, Bad Glass Jawson just fought. Hopkins isn't interested.

LHW is a joke. Journeyman plodder Johnson got a title shot every 3 months FFS.:rofl

Calzaghe at least had Eubank and Reid within his first 4 world title fights. Cleverly so far got a robbery vs Bellew, got rocked by some polish plumber in round 3, and taken to the trenches by a male nurse. And now, some guy from Ukraine who no one heard off.

I hope he doesn't follow Calzaghe's path of holding the WBO for 9 years before unification. But even if he does it would be a step up in opposition.

    I agree.

    The LHW division is dry.

Cleverly has had more fights in his home town than Ward has.

Not difficult, Ward has only fought in Oakland 5 times.

Calzaghe had a much better resume as Cleverly at the 3 titledefence point, and that's saying a lot.
And the other difference is that Slappy Joe was good enough to fight the higher echelon opponents, where Nathan isn't.

I notice Cleverly is being avoided like Calzaghe.
Cleverlys team agreed to fight Shumenov and according to Boxing News because Shumenovs team couldnt get an American date didnt want to know and wouldnt do the fight in the UK as an alternative.
Froch didnt seem to want to know and Hopkins didnt seem to want to know either from what I have read
