You Donaire fans are mad if you think that he can defeat a God.

This is the point I was making earlier. Donaire as a very good fighter and Mijares as a great fighter can coexist harmoniously in the same universe. Well, not according to some of the more excitable among us, but...

    Donaire is the COMPLETE package!

The only reason he was hit at all during the Maldando fight was because he was trying to knock him out before Vic did.

This is was evident in the post fight interview when one of the first things to come out of his mouth was, "what round?", then he cursed himself because he didn't KO the guy before Vic did.

Yo look at the thread starter, Mijares fans threw the first stones

saying Mijares is better than Donaire in every aspect of the sport, and calling Mijares a God to boxing....give me a break :patsch

it seems like the Mijares fans refuse to give anything in favor for Donaire and will defend it all the way

Mijares is the most overhyped fighter in ESB. One win against Arce and he is now "GOD". The question that everybody should be asking is how many fighters outbox Arce? It seems that every fighter with a B skill would outbox Arce, even Rojas was outboxing Arce similar to Mijares when he was stopped.

Arce became a household name because of the way he fights (basicallly he have to paint the ring with his blood ala Gatti). But he is nowhere a barometer to gauge how good a boxer is.

    :good

Although I think Donaire could have thrown his right hand more.

What's great about Donaire is that his left hook is ****in dangerous as hell, but it's not even his best punch!

His best punch is his right hand.

And he delivers both with BLISTERING SPEED!

    That's double trouble.

He also has a great jab when he commits to it, but he should have thrown it more against MD.

Man, stick to your Floyd threads.

    Donaire is only 25.

What the **** do you know about anything?

    Yeah, that's the thing.

The kid anticipates punches coming before he throws his punch.

I'll give Amsterdam a pass for his comments on Mijares, but anyone else who thinks this guy is unstoppable is fooling themselves. No doubt he is a talented fighter, but so is Donaire. I think this would be a good fight. At this point Mijares is even worse than Calzaghe. By that, I mean that they're both talented fighters who got alot of pub by beating up name opponents who were tailor made for them, then followed that up by taking on sub par competition. I'll give Calzaghe credit though, he at least took on a competitive fighter in the form of Bika, and eventually fought Kessler. Mijares, has gone the rout of D level opponents who miracoulously went from unranked to top 10 by the WBC without beating anyone. Mijares needs to beat a couple of more guys with a pulse, before people start the diefication process of this guy. Anyone can look good knocking out cans who aren't even in the top 100 of the division

Actually, no. It didn't start with this thread, at all. All night Saturday before during and after Donaire's victory his faithful were foaming at the mouth with their wild eyes fixed on the nearest target, the 800 lb gorilla in the Fly divisions, Cristian Ricardo Lucio Mijares :nod

The **** got out of hand and hasn't let up since. If anything there hasn't been enough counterbalance to the tidal wave of Mijares-underrating Nonito fever.

As for not giving anything to Donaire, Amsterdam, brooklyn and myself have ALL lauded him generously for his many strengths, but in a comparative breakdown with a superlative fighter the realistic limitations of those strengths are going to be mentioned. Pay better attention.

Some of us care about how you look while winning more than who you win against. (not that the latter can't be factored into estimating greatness, but it should never hold anywhere near the same value as the former) :good

I think Calzaghe is a really good fighter. I have nothing bad to say about that guy, he's the truth.

Donaire would beat Mijares though, and for most of the reasons listed by Orishaman.

    Donaire has everything.

He's got good stamina, fearlessness, a head popping jab, a killer left hook, and his most dangerous punch is his right hand.

On top of that he has tremendous speed, good fundamentals, and he's elusive in the sense that he often predicts a counterpunch before he throws his own.

Amsterdam just hates this guy because he made a year off bet with PacDbest should Mijares and Donaire fight.

    again ill say it

"it seems like the Mijares fans refuse to give anything in favor for Donaire and will defend it all the way"

I even say that Mijares beats Donaire right now but Donaire has the faster speed, Amsterdam gets all over my nuts telling us Mijares is a league above Donaire in speed.

Now Im not sure what his definition of speed his, maybe Mijares can run the 40' alot faster than Donaire and thats probably what hes talking about but in terms of hand speed its not even close for Mijares.

Please, don't start that with me. I've always been an advocate of ranking guys more so on talent rather than resume. However, you have to be taking on respectable competion. You don't neccessarily have to be beating big names, but you should be taking on tough fighters with the style to give you problems. That's how you really test your skill, beating guys of all different styles. That's one of the reasons Mayweather is so good, he's constantly fought solid fighters with different styles. What the hell does beating up D level fighters prove, nothing. Plenty of guys can look like SRR against **** fighters or fighters with styles that are tailor made for their strengths.
