You don't really know boxing unless you've boxed

  1. Most boxing fans go by cliches. For example, some guys may seem like power punchers their whole career, but once they have a fight where their power is voided, Most idiots *aka most boxing fans* think it's a thrown fight, or the guy is completely shot.

For example, the fight with Alvarez and Angulo. Angulo gets his power when he has the momentum. When he gets pushed back or hit with punches, his power is't as devastating as when he is confident. That's because when you get countered, you tend to become a bit more careful with putting more weight into your punches. Canelo hit Angulo with a flush left in the first ten seconds of the fight, and made Angulo gunshy.

That's what happened with Mayweather and Mosley. Mosley was getting countered after round 2, and was afraid to commit and the shots he did land on Mayweather after round 2, did not have the power it did in round 2 when he was confident.

Some people are saying that Martinez threw the fight, or that his knee was the reason why he lost. Yes, the knee was a factor in the fight, but Martinez was still moving around the ring. Cotto simply was a better boxer than Martinez. Martinez didn't have his power because Cotto hit him first and made him respect him. With some fighters, if they feel they respect their opponent in the ring, they will pull their punches to a certain extent.

It's the little things that matter in the ring (I have boxed before). If you haven't boxed before, then there's a 90% chance you don't know **** about boxing. And just go by cliches.

    Cotto just wanted it more

  3. Another cliche, but I will agree with you to a certain extent. But give Cotto credit for his skillset.

Hey man I was just joking, I agree with everything you wrote.
Martinez got rocked hard in the first and never recovered.

I don't agree. Plenty of people who have not boxed still have a good idea of what they are talking about. Many people who have boxed, even at the highest level still get things wrong (game-plans, predictions etc) and many people who have boxed disagree with each other.

Exactly!!! So this poster (supreme idiot) actually believes that because these trainers (and other trainers) that do not have an official professional fight on record, that they have NEVER stepped inside a ring and boxed before in their entire lives.

WOW....That post by "Green man" tells you all need to know about this forum...WOW!!!

Green Man is proving my point without even noticing lmfao.

He's using cliches to his argument. Just because sormonr didn't have a professional fight doesn't means they've never in the ring. There's a lot of people at gyms who just box at a gym to learn, box, and just have fun.

So...the insight you're providing is that getting hit makes fighters more reluctant to throw hard punches than they would otherwise be?

Stop the presses folks, we got an expert up in here :bowdown

Well, that really is a difficult standard to meet.

  15. I said for some fighters, not all. Every fighter has different temperaments.
