Did you see Lopez pivot and move with Loma? Loma could not get his angles. And he was weary of Lopez power. That was a great performance from Lopez & his stamina held up. Loma struggled to adapt and didn't take enough risks.
Refreshing to see this kind of candor and insight from somebody fanboyish enough to derive their username from a fighter's name & nickname. We have in the past seen it go the other way (see: the king khan meltdown when DSG kayoed him )
A few more years to master them Floyd moves and Lopez will be rock solid he slowed late and his feet didnt allow him to evade bumrushing loma easily fixed with expietdance
I just don't think Loma wanted to exchange with Lopez early, he felt something, I honestly believe it was round 1, a solid cuffing right hand and he didn't do much after for a long time. I'm not saying he was seriously buzzed, it was a cuffing shot, but I think he felt the strength and power and it was a deterrent. Once Teo faded after midway, Loma felt confident enough to press, he must have felt something go in those shots, the sting and he felt he could risk a little more. But Teo showed he is legit, he dig in, pressed in the last round to put a stamp on the fight. I thought he hurt Loma in that last round. Look, Loma is a great fighter, not even a debate but he isn't a lightweight, the size difference was a factor, he also gave away 7 rounds against a young, fresh, strong, bigger man and still managed to get himself back in to it but you just can't do that at this level and hope somebody is going to fade, especially another world champion. Lopez was excellent tonight, his tactics were spot on for 7 rounds, had his lead foot inside Lomas, turned with him, stuck out a stiff hard jab and mixed it up head to body. It worked beautifully, it was a very mature performance from a 23 year old with 15 fights under his belt.
