I see vast potential in Dirrell as far as ability is concerned and I will admit that based on his previous performances, I severely underestimated his skill: IN THE MIDDLE OF THE RING.

But when pressed, he makes amateur mistakes like moving back in a straight line with his chin in the air, squaring up, and expending way too much energy. In other words, he RUNS, but doesn't put himself in position to counter.

Look at Hopkins or Mayweather for instance, these are guys that don't RUN, they COUNTERPUNCH. Even Roy Jones, who made some of the same mistakes that Dirrell does, managed to win rounds because he wasn't afraid to fight off the ropes and because of his phenomenal athletic ability is able to land shots.

Dirrell did not do this. While occasional he hit Froch with counters, he mostly looked scared, and ran when he was supposed to be fighting for a title. And the thing is, Dirrell has a lot of potential, with his combination of power and speed, and his overall boxing ability, he could even be great.

But due most like to his experience he still makes amateur mistakes and seems very tense under pressure, and was another reason why he was breathing so heavily when he was in the corner. A lot of amateur level boxers can relate to what he was going through in terms of physical exhaustion if they've ever fought scared in the ring.

Granted, Froch who's boxing skills are severely underestimated, as I think he boxes better than Taylor and Abraham, still has signficant flaws in his offense, such as neglecting the jab, having a dismal left hook, and not doing the right things when his man is in the corner.

In fact Froch often got out of his stance and looked completely off balance when his man was in close. But still, the body work he did in the begining of the fight, especially the right hands to the body, caused Dirrell to change his fight plan and fight scared.

I think Froch did enough to win, especially considering the circumstances where Dirrell was consistantly complaining the ref, when he was initiating hold after hold after hold, often without any offense behind it, and he didn't fight effectively off the ropes except for few times when he seemed like he was actually learning in the ring.

Fact is, if they gave the fight to a guy that ran like that in a championship fight given that it was that close, it would be a damn robbery, especially considering it was in Froch's hometown.

Why people are saying Dirrell won, I don't get it. I mean, he knew he lost. He didn't raise his hands at the end of the fight, and we're talking about a guy who doesn't make it look like he's that humble, and his post fight interview made it even clearer.

He knows he lost the fight, Froch knows he lost the fight, so why don't ya'll know he lost the fight?

Like Dirrell, said one loss ain't ****, and it's a learning experience.

I will say this though, as bad as Abraham is technically, if Dirrell makes the same mistakes he made against Froch and fights scared, he will get knocked out. Don't get me wrong, he has the style to give Abraham fits and posssibly even knock him out, but I gotta believe given the way he fought against Froch, that he's gonna get knocked out.

He should have had some more fights before entering this tournament. But hey......that's how it goes.

Agreed 100%!!! They say he ran but Im willing to bet he landed at least twice as many shots as Froch.
You DONT defend a title by charging forward and missing wildly all ****in night!.
Unless of course youre Carl Froch and the fight is in your back yard

Dirrell could't hurt his grandmother. He is so busy falling down on canvas, running, holding and complaining. Froch was "never" anywhere near hurt. Dirrell was afraid, very afraid.

Wrong. Froch was doing the chicken dance after Dirrell connected in the latter rounds. That ale is affecting your vision.

I've never accused a fighter of running, but what Dirrell was doing was running. Not all night but he did alot of running.

That said, I still think Dirrell won the fight but I do get the OP's point that a guy that fought like that doesn't deserve the win. Frankly neither guy deserved to win that fight. Froch was utter dog**** as well

Can we close out Froch Dirrell now?

No, I watched that over and over and Froch was nowhere nearly hurt. Dirrell was scared as Hell though. Dirrell likes to fight off the canvas.

Ok enough already. You never give any credit to certain fighters even if the proof was glued to your eyes. Froch was hurt a few occassions but I guess in your eyes it only tickles when Dirrell hits him flush and his legs tremble :patsch :-(
