Rewatching the Oscar De La Hoya V Mayweather fight for the 20th time or so, and I notice that Manny Steward keeps his cool trying to explain the finer points of the game to Merchants crazy old drunk senile ass. Steward correctly predicted that Mayweather was wearing Oscar down down the stretch and that inevitably Oscar would fade as he always does and Mayweather would be able to land clean precise shots at will. He's also trying to explain to the dbag that most of Oscars shots are landing against Floyds arms and the shots he does land clean Floyd is rolling. Well old drunk dumbass aint havin none of that. Apparently Oscar is dominating the fight, those punches he's landing on Mayweathers arms and shoulders are having an effect. Apparently Merchant knows more then a trainer who's been training top level fighters for 30 odd years.

Seriously, is there anyone who doesnt think Merchant is a big joke? Watch the Pavlik KO of JT. Larry Merchant is fumbling out one of his "witty" one liners as Pavlik is pounding Taylor to the canvas, what a maroon.

To be honest I like Merchant better then Manny. Usually Manny says dumber stuff then Larry does. In round 1 of Calzaghe vs. Jones, Manny starts talking about Calzaghe being too slow for Jones. By round three Manny is talking about Calzaghe being too fast for Jones. How the hell did this happen in two rounds? Merchant is wrong alot too, but at least his bias is consistent.

:rofl Yeah he certainly calls it like he sees it. Like someone who's watching a fight for the first time. Manny tries to predict based on his previous boxing experience, something Larry Merchant doesnt have, how a fight will turn out in the end. Manny Steward correctly saw that Oscar was tense, fighting flat footed, not using his jab and at one point predictes to Larry's obvious irritation that Oscar would get tired and Floyd would start to land cleanly.

But nnooooo, cant explain to the old drunk the finer points of boxing. I remember when Roy Jones had to check his dumbass.

They all put up with each other's bull****.

Lampley's cheerleading and drama queen antics.

Merchant's grumpy ramblings and sentences that take 5 minutes to come out.

    Steward's wonderful I-knew-this-all-along insight.

    Lewis's incompetence.

Jones's insistence on talking about how great he is.

    Foremans's nonsense.

:good I'll agree with that. Although Lewis and Foreman seem to be the most consistent. Lewis constantly insisting that a fighter throw the jab, and if he is throwing a jab, double up on it lol. Apparently every fight had a 80 reach like you Lennox and could throw the jab as good as you.

Manny predicts fights and then half way through the fight no matter if the fight is going completely different then what he said he will say "this fight is going exactly as I predicted blah balh blah".

True. But you see, Manny is such a genius, that he has analyzed 100 different ways the fight could go, so essentially he is always correct in his predictions. :yep

I know they can both be idiots but I like Lampley and Larry. I dislike Max and I dislike Bob Poppa. Max is to wet, soggy even. Poppa is to dry. A nuclear bomb could go off and he wouldn't flinch as he burnt to a crisp.

This is entertainment, be entertaining, be exciting.

Max is like a caricature of a five year old or something. At times he can be real smart I will give him that too though.

Lamps and Merchant, they know how to infuse the action with some dramatic comments, which at times are just plain dumb, but over all they "get it" in terms of how to make things entertaining.

I liked Foreman too. He added some good comments and kept it interesting.

Poppa ugh. Its like a damn homework assignment for him. A chore. A job.

Lennox is just doesn't seem to translate well, even though he has a lot of knowledge he doesn't get how to carry that over into the broadcast but I think he may impove. Maybe not.
