doing more afterwords as you say, compared to having to spar 12 rounds, hitting bags, ect are night and day.... doesnt matter how elite of an athlete you are..its 1) near impossible to not damage your body 2) not show any signs of wear and tear

pacquiao could not say he runs 10miles a day in a short commercial ad and add that he took day off on sundays. most likely there is a day off or two more like he runs around 5 or 6 times a week. but there is a truth to the distance he runs since he has a 10 mile regular course. for an elite boxer like pacquiao and his build, i think he can finish this around 70 minutes or maybe less.

Depends what you are going for. To build a base you just need mileage but to tune yourself for sport or a race, then like you say, you vary long runs, high intensity (speed or hills) and tempo runs.

Who said they are flat 10 miles anyway? I'm sure he varies pace, route (and so intensity based on hills etc). Besides, I'm only saying it's possible (backed up by knowing people who have done this distance or more daily, no rest days) not that it's beneficial or he literally does it. He might do what he considers the equivalent, or on average or whatever.

An athlete doesn't need 24 hours rest between sessions like someone else would, they can run every day. In fact that can run twice a day. Their equivalent of a rest to repair is more likely to be a relaxed session than a day off.

its like the guy that says he works 16-18 hours a day....

maybe one day he worked 12 hours, but seemed like 13, but now its such an easy phrase to throw out there because people will really never know, so now he works that much EVERYDAY because he wants to look like johnny on the spot worker bee
    and most dont care anyway

 You do realize 10 Miles isn't even a Half Marathon, right?:rofl Lookee here boy, 10 miles a day for 8 weeks in a training camp is NOT an amazing feat. HS kids for cross country do that after school daily during their seasons and they ARE NOT a professional athlete like a Manny PAC.

And there are days in camp where PAC rests....

and that's why pacquiao is different. have you read or heard of roach and ariza's comment on pac when he starts training? they feel that manny is pushing himself too far and always wants to test his limits. and who says he is not damaging his body with this type of rigorous training? he might not be feeling it now but sooner, it will tax him. there's a limit on how much you can push your body and we will see it soon on pacquiao.

also comparing myself to pacquiao is also night and day with our physical capabilty and athleticism.

if it were just running, then i would say yeah he could do it...but throw in his sparring wars, his 2000 sit ups a clip, and his other 4-5 hours in the gym ...i dont see it....some people just dont understand how long 10 miles is or how long it takes ( i can see that you do) , but to run 2 solid hours every day....? thats about like sparring 50 rounds a day

    fair enough....
i would simply say you would see the damage immediately...like after 8 weeks of this type of training....

Maybe you're right, and I'm not really objecting to those saying he can't do it on top of everything else, just those saying noone can do it full stop.

To be honest though, sparring etc works different muscle groups and if he's taking in enough carbs it might not break down his body. I've been reasonably fit (never elite by any stretch) and at one point could cycle and run daily, with perhaps 1 or two rest days a fortnight. It's all about knowing how much your body can take, and reading signs of overworking yourself.

10miles a day can be done easily. He'll be running 9-10mins per mile i.e. slow for 90mins every day with heart rate at about 60% max. At this level he wouldn't get many impact injuries and would feel okay after, but would get stamina improvements and increased aerobic endurance.

Running distances of this length will also stop your weight sessions bulking you up, but those weight sessions will still add strength.

10miles every day does seem a bit excessive and I doubt he actually does this every day (it's an advert!!), but it is definitely doable if you thought this was the best way to train. I would have thought he'd do shorter runs with higher intensity intervals on some days.

I used to do up to 80miles a week. A lot of it was quality though e.g. 6miles in the morning and then 12 by 1000m with a mile warm up and warm down. I know people who run 160miles per week for long periods of the year.

I doubt he started out doing 10miles either. You would more likley to run for X amount of time e.g. at first you may only get 7miles done, but after time you will get to 10miles.
