I cant believe that some ****ing wankers in this thread think a Pro Athlete like Manny Pacquiao doesnt run 10 miles a day when in training Camp.

My step Dad and he is no Pro athlete.

    Swims 20 laps every morning
Runs 5 kms on his lunch break
Then after work Rides 40 kms on his bike

    Every day except the weekend.
And he is 49 years old.
He has been doing this since he was 25 years of age.

During Training Camp i can believe it.

I believe its possible allthough you would think picking up a injury would be likely.

Man alot of couch potatoes on esb!

Get off the Internet and start running u turds. I thought this was a boxing forum? Doesn't anyone workout here? Frigging 10 miles ain't nothing special for an elite athelete.

I usually do 7 miles on my lunch break to get my road work in. A p4p boxer is going to have superior genes, as will most top class athletes.

Most runners will tell you, the most likely injuries will be blistered feet or some form of shin splint (damaged periosteum). For an elite athlete who will have been doing roadwork since his teens (probably barefoot in the streets of Manila) and has a rumoured history of Muay Thai (fighters often kick banana trees to toughen up their shins) I don't think these injuries will be very likely.

Also the 10 miles he's doing, he isn't doing it at race pace every day, road work is more to build up endurance rather than fast-twitch muscle fibres as someone mentioned earlier in the thread.

At one stage I was 15k a day in the morning and then train for a few hours in the gym at night. I don't anymore because there is no need... and is actually counter productive.

I just do sprints mostly now, as far as the running is concerened.

If your job is to be an athlete, working out is your 9-5. Most elite boxers will probably do at least 6 miles a day.

lol God I think some of you guys never done running, 10 miles are nothing for sportsmen like Pac etc. I use to run 2.5 miles which takes like 10 mints.

I once imagined running 10 miles and collapsed with exhaustion.

Based on my experience it's impossible to even think of running 10 miles in a day.
