It was a silly mistake by Linares and he got hit good on the temple. Far to early to tell if Linares is chinny.
It occurred to me that it might be interesting to see PH|LLA's take on this turn of events...per a quick search, the dude hasn't posted in a month! :blood
Bradely did it with success against Holt. If he would of stayed up and didnt knee to rest, Holt may have finished him off.
How the hell are you going to take a knee when you aren't even coherent? ... this guy at that moment probably didn't know what to think and couldn't fully process what was going on. It has nothing to do with his chin, it has more to do with him not being able to recover and learning from that mistake ... If you have ever been to a gym ... or have ever talked to a boxer, they would tell you it doesn't take much to get hurt. These guys are professional, who work on throwing 1,000's of punches per day for hours at a time ... they hit harder than the average man and what might not look hard to you might have a different impact than what you've seen or felt. I'm not getting off the hype train just yet because in the first few moments in that fight, during the feeling out process - Linares looked like he knew what he was doing and his skill showed ... it doesn't take much to see that. He just got caught with a good punch ...
Tim Bradley is terrible ... I think he has good boxing skills but he just doesn't seem like a champion that I would like to root for ... the quality of opposition in the light welterweight division isn't quite were it should be right now ... with the demise of Hatton, Pac moving up in weight, and Marquez in limbo ... it just doesn't have the star power - it should've had by now ... If Bradley moves up to welterweight or fights a welterweight (say Berto) he will lose and lose bad. He's wide with his punches, he has his chin up in the air at times when he opens up his combo's ... he doesn't have much pop ... and he's not that accurrate but he depends on his boxing ability which is what is going to get him beat down because at times he looks very limited.
It was a temple shot, Ottke with less than zero power KTFO Mundine, also Hoye decked the extremely durable Hall with it. These things are very rare but do happen every now and then. Salgado's didn't even put full power and body weight behind it, it was one of those strange 'lucky' shots.
No offense buddy, but you haven't really given me a good reason to justify your apparently pretty intense dislike of the guy. Were you a disappointed Witter or Holt fan? :huh
Bro I don't have a reason ... its just a hunch ... what I've seen of him hasn't impressed me ... I don't have Kendal Holt in high regards either ... or Edner Cherry ... and who knows what the hell was going through Nate Campbell's mind. If he did that **** against someone like Ricardo Torres then i'll be impressed.
Temple shots are the worst shots to take because they take everything out of you and even if you have a good chin, they still will effect you. Carl Froch went down from a temple shot against Jermain Taylor and before that point he had never been knocked down before Am or Pro.
The term 'chin' doesn't mean necessarily getting hit bang on the chin. Plenty of fighters get hit in the temple and recover in time. He's got shaky whiskers, and you can't deny that.
and unlike Linares, Froch recovered demonstrating his recovery abilities. Linares still has a chance to bounce back, but that just might be the thing with him can't recover quickly enough.
Fitz... you've made your point. Come back in 2 years and you may be proven right, but it's not happening in the next 2 hours. And of course people are overreacting, that's what's done here. But the fact remains, he needs to prove himself by coming back from a bad ko loss. Until that's done, questions remain.
