at LMW he is a ****ing nightmare for anyone. he struggles to beat any top 10 LHW.

top 10 lhw's like clinton woods???? well he's already been offered kessler money which is presumably decent and if calzaghe's soo much better than hopkins, he ought to take it so long as it's a fair share.

P4P winky is a better fighter than woods, but he is too bloody small! what is so hard to get about that? he doesn't handle the weight, and v hopkins he wasn't even fighting at the fully fledged weight.

he got offered less than what he got against kessler, it's a shitty offer. he's got two fights left, he's not gonna sell himself short.

Winky is too small. Calzaghe is as good or better than Winky, and bigger.

not hard to get. your point that winky has difficulty w/ top lhws is valid. i just don't know how many top lhw's there are.

hopefully the offer will be fair to both fighters and the fight is made (hopkins/calzaghe) so we can stop the speculation.

Winky Wright would NOT beat Joe Calzaghe...bottom line, end of discussion, end of thread.

Winky relies heavily on his right jab to control the fight and set up other punches. However, he would not have any success with the jab against Calzaghe because Joe is a southpaw and has the footwork and defense to take it away. Watch the Kessler fight for an example. If anything, Calzaghe would out jab Wright.

Winky is vulnerable to fast fighters with high punch outputs, foot speed, and those who can provide a multiplicity of angles. He simply wouldn't get into a rhythm with Calzaghe and he wouldn't be able to deal with the speed and angles. Esentially, he wouldn't have time to plant and throw which is what he needs to do to be effective. He is also very effective now coming forward, but since when has a light-hitting pressure fighter bothered Calzaghe?

If Winky went back up to 168, he would be sluggish like he was against Hopkins. Calzaghe is too big, too fast, and too much for Winky. He would be setting the pace and controlling the tempo of the fight.

    Joe Calzaghe UD
    119-109, 119-109, 118-110

Also, Wright is the bigger name by far, but at the moment, he's not better than Mikkel Kessler.

Winky WAS underrated but right now he isnt, he gets his due and from what I see he even gets overrated. Hopkins at 42 with his activity was able to defeat Wright, Calzaghe at 35 would beat him even easier. Wright is really good but not THAT good
