Most of the guys floyd has fought could walk through his punches....floyds punches have more of a "wtf he hit me, where the **** did he go" effect on people rather than a "oh ****, he hit me" effect.

Cotto wasn't really out of position to land a shot in that instance. He just doesn't have the reflexes, speed, quickness or reach that Mayweather has to pull it off thats one of the reasons why Mayweather in on another level then these other fighters. His physical gifts allow him to do things that a lot of these guys can't. Granted maybe Pacman would have noted that and avoided doing that if it was Mayweather.

Regardless, Pac would need to fight a very disciplined fight when he steps in the ring with PBF as Mayweather will capitalize on any mistake or flaw or hiccup in technique that Pac may have been able to get away with vs other fighters due to Pac amazing athletic ability.

Pacquiao gets hit with a jab at a very high rate for being a world class fighter.

he was definately out of position and also HURT. Fighters like Pac can tell when their opponents are in these kinds of vulnerable situations but not many have talent to take advantage of it like he does..

He could have still attacked Cotto without jumping off the ground though. He got to anxious and let loose on his technique. Hey it happens. He just needs to be more careful about doing that type of stuff vs PBF is all Im saying.

I don't believe he was able to read the whole situation like that in that one instance. I believe instincts took over and he was trying to go for the kill. He wasn't thinking okay Cotto is off balance so I can land these 2 jumping hooks. He felt he connected an good punch, Cotto was getting out of his reach so he jumped forward to try and connect and finish.

I think he knew that he hurt Cotto (if you watch teh fight you can hear that punch lands extremely solid).

Normally, a guy gets hurt and he ducks down and leans back like that and he knows that he is pretty safe and that no follow-up shots are coming. One of the things that makes Pac dangerous is that just when you think the danger is over and you're in the clear there's another punch coming right behind.

Also, that is just one example of Pacquiao countering Cotto's jab, but during the fight there are countless times when Pac dipped under Cotto's jab and countered it with a straight left right on the button. Like I said he must've landed that shot maybe 40 times.

As the old saying goes, "greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing people he didn't exist". Floyd has more strings to his bow than most of us will ever realise.[/quote]

Another example was in the Hatton fight. Who knew that Floyd could beat Hatton at his own game: infighting and rough house tactics.

I have to disagree with you on that...I was very impressed on how Manny took away Cotto's body attack by tucking his elbows to protect his body...He used that Clottey style defense (chin tucked with his elbows covering his body) Once Manny tasted Cotto's power he tended to draw Cotto in and get off his punches.

I do agree that Cotto was landing some good jabs, just disagree with on the body punches part!:good

It's not 5 inches. Reach is a measure of wingspan (Floyd at 72, Manny at 67). The arm length advantage of Floyd is more around 2 to 2.5 inches, which is a lot more manageable than 5.

I did....pretty simple in my opinion but I thought Ricky did extremely well against a guy like Floyd who shouldn't have lost a round against Rick. And from Floyd's mouth it was his "hardest" test to date.

After watching it again Cotto was out of position looking at his left leg. Pac seemed to have slide behind him.

Cotto's feet were set...Most of the time with Manny's foot work he is getting his opponents "out of position" b/c of superior footwork.

If Cotto were to have squared up though on the way back, Pac would have been open for a huge shot.

The over hand right off the philly shell, all he had to do was turn his hips.

I don't think Cotto was hurt, more like he was stunned. I also think he was to scared of Pac's speed to even look take advantage of that type of opening at that point.
