Yes, I notice that when when you win a belt, no other pre-existing belt-holder at the weight deserves to fight you, if you did it in the confines of a magical tournament. atsch

That's not the point and you know it.

Those guys have been thru the gauntlet while Bute was forced to take a bunch of gimme fights, with the exception Johnson.

Now, Ward's a unified champ with the opportunity to take a less dangerous fight while Bute gets a stiff challenge.

Ward's the top dog right now. Its the reality of the situation.

If he goes any length of time and Bute is still out there unchecked then he'll deserve the criticism. But not now.

At the time the tournament was formed he hadn't accomplished enough to get a spot. All of the fighters put in were either more accomplished or rightfully considered better prospects. Bute is elevated by being the last man standing and by doing what he should against over matched opponents.
