The fact is, the quality just isn't there for them to beat,

David Haye said about Solis: "He will unfortunately go down as yet another fat bum" and it's absolutely true. Had Solis come in shape, put up a decent fight and Vitali had won, it would go down as Vitali's best win, without question. Solis has the potential to be a better fighter than Sanders, who is currently Vitali's best win, and it's a shame we didn't get a better conclusion to that fight. If Vitali had beaten a better version, it'd go down as a very good win but now, after that strange ending, it will be go down in the history books as farcical.

The best possible scenario for Wlad, is that he beats Haye in a good, entertaining fight. If he destroys him, Haye will go down as another overmatched opponent and it won't add much strength to Wlad's record, so, for Wlad, he needs Haye to prove himself in their fight before beating him. For Vitali, he probably needs to beat Adamek because there really isn't anyone else out there who will add to his legacy. Beyond that though, it's just sad. Once Haye and Adamek are out of the picture, and they will be shortly, what else is there? Rematches against guys who put up no fight? Apart from Povetkin, who is nowhere near as good as he was, it's very bleak.

It's a shame too because they're both good fighters. Vitali has a reputation of being boring but if he was fighting good opponents, I honestly think he'd be in excellent fights all the time, but the fact is, he's just relentlessly beating guys up who have no chance. With Wlad, it's a similar situation - They need fighters who will test them, to prove their greatness and they haven't had that.

Hopefully after Haye and Adamek are out of the way, Vitali will retire because that's hurting Wlad's legacy. There's not enough talent for them to both face right now, so it would be the generous thing to do, for Vitali to step aside and let Wlad rule.

It is very disappointing though. The Klitschko's, in another era, could go down as very good heavyweights but by beating guys who show as little as Solis has, it doesn't enhance their legacies.

I agree for the most part, it's the opponents that undermine their legacies.
But Herbie Hide is still Vitali's best win, not Sanders in my book and there's noone out there on the moment who will top that (that includes Haye).

This guys obsession and hatred for the Klitschko's is something I find quite worrying, if Haye losing to Wlad during July I suggest you stay with some family members for a few weeks, I truly don't want to see you end up like this.

I agree with Jack though here, good balanced post.

Not sure why you'd call Vitali boring though. I always thought he's more exciting to watch than Wlad because Vitali loves to trade and goto war.

I think it's because Vitali is harder to hit and, with all chinny fighters, you never know what will happen with Wlad. It keeps you on the edge of your seat. Vitali is a bit too invincible to be fun.

Though, because of his mentality, I think Vitali could have been a very exciting heavyweight. The problem is, there's no Foreman, Lewis, Frazier etc., who will bang it out with him. Even the tough, hard hitting fighters he's fought, like Peter or Briggs, buckle mentality when they get hit, so it makes for boring fights.

I did yes, to sum up his post according to him, it doesn't matter now even if the Klitschko's beat Haye, Povetkin, Adamek, Boytsov, Helenius, Pulev or anyone else coming through because they're all ****.

I disagree myself, some top fights to be had at HW in the next few years.

Then you did it wrong cause there was no visible hatred in this one.

Well, I only disagree with this:

They will go down as very good heavyweights in this era too becauase that much (that they're very good) is obvious anyway.

I look at it like this when discussing opponents

Lewis when he started had Holyfield, Tyson, Bowe, Golota, Moorer, Mercer, Morrisson, Ruiz, Byrd, Ruddock, and left overs from the 80's

he came in the middle of an era and then established his own by beating a good amount of the above listed and these guys were established foes

Wlad has been a champion in a transitional era. Lewis retired, and guys like Holyfield and others were too old to be credible wins or had retired. So Wlad wins the title against the best holder Byrd

Then he has all these unknown contenders who are unproven. Many undefeated, young, and rushed.

Now these guys were not really known or accomplished before losing. Then because the Klits have the belts and Haye never fights these guys will never win belts.

Its not like Floyd or Manny beat a guy then that guy wins at another weight or they move up and that guy gets his belt back.

If Wlad beats you its the end of the line. you arent beating him and there is nowhere to go

The HOF rates you on wins over top 10 guys, Wlad has a shitload, wins over past and present holders if ya count the WBO he has plenty Byrd 2X, Peter 2X, Mercer, Iggy, Chagaev, Rahman i may be missing one or two more, and wins over HOF guys and at this rate none and id imagine no more

so all Wlad can realistically do is win, keep beating top 10 even top 5 guys and clean his own era. Then beat a few of the next generation of contenders like Helenius, Puleev, Ustinov, Wilder, and others

Vitlali fought Lewis to one of his hardest fights, then beat the other best guy when Lewis retired for the belts. He defended once and retired on injury his moment in the sun cut short. Then he cameback and cut in on Wlads time in the sun and prevented him from getting the WBC

his comeback has been extracurricular nobody is expecting him to fight everybody or pursue unification at his age and after the injuries

but Vitali has decided to take on polished vets and young guns alike. In his comeback he has defeated champion Peter, former champ Gomez, former champ Briggs, young undefeated Johnson, young undefeated savior of the division Arreola, young undefeated Solis

Vitali has been active as an old man but continues to win and dominate way past his prime

If you actually read what Haye says, he was pretty fair to Solis. He said that if he came into the ring in good shape (that doesn't just mean "lowest ever weight") then he would have a good chance. the fact is, Solis came to the ring looking like a slob with poor fitness. What a surprise that his body gave up on him!

Solid was winning that round before the leg injury, its frustrating because we would have saw a great fight that could have gone either way, Solis WAS much better than the recent opposition of the Klits.

    Haye is even better though.

I read in ring magazine about 4 or so years ago that Vitali should stay retired and let Wlad rule. Now if he had done that then, his own legacy wouldn't be nearly as impressive. Not that he beat anyone of note really but he dominated everyone that stepped up.
