You have to laugh at this Ray Hatton character

He doesnt but its the only weight Mayweather will now fight at.

Hatton wants to avenge his only ever defeat, a defeat that clearly upset him..no matter how deluded, why is that so bad...

Oh for **** sake Gaz this is what I mean. You can't have it all ways. You cant sit there & say it's cool for Hatton to chase a fight with Mayweather at 147 but no one is allowed to question why he won't face others there just because he says it's not his division. So him beating Cotto wouldn't bring any fame nah?

 

So if he'd won what would he have done then? It's not bad but you can't expect people to not question why he won't chase fights with different people there.

 

So which one is he? A criminal mastermind, confidence trickster and one half of British boxings axis of evil or a daft arse carpet fitter?

Dan, you said beating Cotto would bring Hatton just as much fame as beating Mayweather. Thats just not true, thats all I said.

 

Bob Arum would pay handsomely so maybe not quite the fame but certainly as much money. Plus Hatton has all the fame he needs doesn't he? Hence why he didn't need to fight that little, nobody Witter.

 

For ego purposes, if he loses to Floyd again, then he's still only ever lost to one guy, so there's that.

Lets be honest, Mayweather is by far the best option for Hattton at 147. Although he's very skilled he's not the biggest welter out there, the fight will attract the most money for Hatton (more than a Cotto fight) and a loss is excusable. A loss to Cotto or (esp) Margo will be a lot harder to explain away. He'll stay at 140 for the foreseeable future unless he can get a Mayweather rematch.
