You Know Cotto can drop WBC Belt and he'll still be Lineal Champ right!?!?!

Why is he even considering Bradley, K9, Rios, etc when GGG is ready, willing and able to fight on any date Cotto wants a go.

Canelo is busy with Kirkland, and may not be available for 18 months. injuries COULD happen, and you yourself say Cotto shoudlnt think about who's next AFTER next.

GGG should BE next. PERIOD.

And Hopkins was only lineal when he beat Pascal...not when he beat Tarver....Ring title is not Lineal title all of the time

Larry Holmes won the lineal HW championship by beating up old, Parkinsons-riddled Ali.

 

Lineage does mean something,when the fighters make it mean something..Holmes was the best fighter at heavyweight and deseved the lineage

 

But this guy seems to think the Ring title is the lineal title..they relate at times but not always.........Roy Jones was never the lineal champ at 175 even though he had all the titles and the Ring belt....

 

I disagree, you can drop a belt anytime,but as long as you are fighting contenders in your division you are A ok

Cotto could drop the lineal and WBC titles and face Canelo for the jr. middleweight championship of Icewind Dale, and this fight would sell the f... out and do solid PPV numbers. C'mon now....You know this.

That being said, I'd like to see GGG get a chance to become lineal. If Cotto won't face him, or other top middleweight contenders, he should abdicate and Golovkin and co to vie for the top slot.

 

Depends.

Often, ABC titles will strip lineal champs without just cause, or for meeting other titleholders instead of their mandatory challenger. If the fighter stays in the weight division, and that happens, then they should still be lineal, since they didn't lose the title in the ring and made an effort to face a worthy opponent.
