I mean the guy comes to fight and fight hard every time he is in the ring

He may blow up badly between fights but he comes into every fight in shape

He fights a good level of competition generally, beating a future hall of famer in Kostya Tszyu in a fight a lot of people (myself included), expected him to lose and be exposed in.

    He seems likeable

And most importantly his sole loss came at the hands of one of the most talented boxers of our era. No shame in that, in a fight where he gave it his all but was simply beaten by the better man.

In a way, i'm suprised the man doesn't get more respect then he does IMO, and i'm not even a fan of his (too much clinching for me)

Even the fight against Lazcano was a great punch up. It was a very entertaing fight. People forget that.

Everything in boxing is subjective. Hell I know people that think that Cory Spinks is exciting. I get a lot of **** for this but I really don't think Haton is exciting. His style is extremly frustrating to watch. Just when you think there is going to be some action, bam a clinch and everything comes to a halt except maybe hatton punching with the free arm.

I did a poll on here after the Lazcano fight and it was Unanimously in favour of stating the fight was an enjoyable and very exiting one. Even with all the Hatton haters on here; that was the result.

People soon forget though, and go back to the cliche sticky wicky thing. I know where your coming from, and sometimes he can be crap to watch with all his clinging, but generally his fights are often eventful at least.

He has a lot of fans for a reason.

yea...he doesn't get enough credit...and floyd doesn't get enough credit for beating him; i hope hatton beats pacquaio and even further solidifies Floyd's tremendous victory.

Exactly to much clinching. He doesn't have a real skill level, his wrestling is what bothers most opponents(except Floyd) He may bring everything he has but wrestling doesn't really translate into a great fighter in boxing. The Tszyu fight doesn't do it for me. Jose Luis Castillo is the only fight worth talking about where he won the proper way. Everything else is mostly wrestling. His pure boxing skills were exposed when he fought Floyd. Everytime they were at a distance he got a boxing lesson.

    Hattons skills are very underated.

Whilst he may not be a great pure boxer like Mayweather that doesnt mean that he is very good in his own right (pressure fighter).

And whilst he may never be Willie Pep the reverse could be said for fight fans who like pressure fighters, they dont like the boxers because they could never be all out pressure like your Hattons, Grebs and Basilios.

Hatton is good at what he does, and he is one of Britains finest.

I tend to agree that Hatton is under-creddited on the forum.

It has something to do with his style of fight. While he is highly effective on what he does, his style is not so appealing to the boxing fans. Just too much hugging for the liking. He is the most popular boxer in UK though, so all is not lost.
