You should aknowledge a boxers weakness to appreciate his strength.

Take wladimir for example. he got smashed 3 times. this shouldnt be looked over, he was battered until he couldnt continue. his chin and stamina were a big weakness of his. by aknowledging this it makes his current reign seem all the more impressive. someone who got smashed by journeymen was able to become the best in the world.

vitali is another example. he quit vs byrd. it can be mixed however it wants, but he chose not to continue, when others have in his place. his heart was called into question. again accepting this makes the fact he was able to stand toe to toe with lewis all the more impressive.

lastly i'll use lewis. he got sparked by rahman, and was badly hurt vs mccall. by dismissing the losses as complacency, you can't really appreciate how good an achievement it was to step back in the ring with those men who knocked him out, and then score a stoppage over them. preperation is as much a part of fighting as throwing the punches themselves. and he failed in this area, he took his opponents lightly and paid heavily. on the night he lost to the better men, without doubt. but he then had the mental strength to right those wrongs, and them two are two of his most impressive points in his career.

there are many boxers who had serious faults in their arsenal, then went on to improve massively. these are just the first two i could think of. there are also people like pacman, khan, hopkins, hearns and many many others.

This is where i feel the line blurs between hugger and hater. you see some nuthuggers are desperate to defend their fighters, that they make the weaknesses out to be non-existant. which then takes away from the achievements that followed.

i've seen some people refer to wlad's 3 losses as "flukes" it is crazy to suggest that. wlad has achieved enough that his legacy doesnt need fabricating and sugar coating. he was **** in the defence and fitness departments, he has made huge strides in overcoming this. so by belittling his weaknesses, they detract from his strengths, and essentially hate on him without realising it. insinuating he needs to be defended. its crazy but it happens.

Afterall it is by overcoming obstacles you are able to prove yourself in the long run. the 3 examples i gave have shown they can do this. but the stupid huggers who aggressively defend them won't be able to appreciate this.

it wouldnt surprise me if some people try calling this a hate thread. they'll ignore my examples of lewis, pacman, hearns, khan and hopkins. and will just focus on the 2 k brothers. but like i said, that behaviour itself is hating so they should just argue the toss with themselves.

Great post. Other examples are Cotto & Trinidad. Yes they've been vulnerable in fights but their vulnerabilities made them exciting. Trinidad touched the canvas against Mayorga but finished him in an excellent display of power punching. Cotto(where to start lol) got hurt against Torres but came back to stop him.

good examples :good juanma seems similar now, his last few fights have seen him take big shots. he isnt an unstoppable beast, he is vulnerable, so if does go onto beat caballero, gamboa and john, then it will be an azmaing achievement, and one that IMO makes him a real p4p contender.

I'm still not sold on Lopez but he impressed me with his endurance & willpower against Marquez. He toke some big shots but didn't look visibly hurt that much. I'm not a fan of him but I do like some fights of his and respect him. I am a Cotto/Trinidad/Benitez/Gomez/Calderon fan though.
