Not trying to "****" on your thread Benny. But I thought the fight would be possible for a completely different set of reasons. And for the record, if it happens. Floyd will fight him at 154lbs and not ask for a Catchweight (unlike some other fighter that shall remain nameless)...But it starts with a "P" and ends in *****!!!!

It all paid off for HBO, which announced that the fight generated a 3.9 rating, its best boxing rating of the year (and I am also told the highest in about two years). The live broadcast, combined with a Sunday morning replay, was seen by approximately 1.9 million viewers. Considering that HBO paid a license fee of $2.85 million, it got some serious bang for its buck, and Top Rank added another historic fight to its long list of memorable promotions.

I was begging for this fight before Mayweather's "retirement." It's not the same now that Cotto seems to be a bit on the downside of his career.

Floyd would have to beat up Cotto as much as or worst than what Pac and Margo did for him to get any credit.

I don't believe that, I remember a fight last year getting in the 2 millions on free HBO.

You're thinking of Klitschko-Arreola (Mayweather-Marquez replay), which was initially reported to have had 2.1 million viewers. I know that was the highest rated Boxing card on HBO last year, with Mosley-Margarito, Marquez-Diaz, and Cotto-Clottey just behind those ratings, all doing numbers in the similar ballpark.

    Well. I will say this.

If 1.9 million on free HBO is what Cotto did.

Boxing is far worse off than I expected and Cotto I guess is still a big draw if thats the biggest fight in awhile on free HBO.

Arreola/Klitschko would have been my other guess. Same venue, each featuring a hispanic fighter.

Pacquaio left overs? I don't think so, not a bad fight but he should fight Martinez if he doesn't fight Pac, who he should fight

I can't see any way this happens. None. He gains nothing. He already got his 154 strap off Oscar. If he goes up and beats Cotto, people say he's taking PAC's leftovers. That won't fly at all.

It was also the highest rated fight of the year so far.

Which is why it would be if the May/Pac negotiations fail (which i would deem unacceptable, but this is boxing and the unacceptable happens all the time)

Not quite sure why you would think that.
A pot shotting defence first boxer is not the style that is wrong for cotto, cotto has never been outboxed and his kryptonite are fighters who are big, strong, put on pressure, have chins and can hurt him with power punches. As great as mayweather is... hes not the kind of fighter that is cottos undoing. However, the thing is Mayweather is a great fighter and rises above his style so to speak, which speaks for itself, but problem isnt the style, its a case of cotto going up against a great fighter which is the problem.

That being said.... this would be the fight i want the most for Cotto. Obviously, anyone in their right mind would have to make Mayweather the favorite, but i think Cotto can do better then some think and id love to see these two (who should have fought at 140, or 147) duke it out and i can see Cotto having some success if hes in a bit better condition and shape then he was for Foreman, id like to see him come to the ring at 151, be a bit faster, and hed have to go back to throwing more then one punch at a time very often.

Anyways, Mayweather vs Cotto is the fight i want to see if Mayweather vs Pac or Mayweather vs Martinez doesnt happen.
