This reminds me of all those guys jumping from HS to the NBA ... not everyone is built to be a HW, but it seems like more and more fighters are campaigning at it.

Its ridiculous ... there are a bunch of fat overweight ... SMW and LHW who think they can fight with the big dawgs and its really killing the division.

The HW division was never about boxing ... it was about the chance of things changing with one punch ... and the possibility seeing someone getting knocked out.

But you have these guys who can't punch and don't want to fight and just bore the public to death with their weak ass fights.

If these guys were more discipline in their training ... there would be less cupcakes in the division and more fighters in the lower divisions.

I don't get how some of you guys don't seem to enjoy watching average fighters go at it in barnburners? The HW match ups these days are the BEST fights to see drunk! Its like *drum roll* bum heavyweights are on, grab a beer and cheer! Nothing beats fat tubs of goo getting knocked off their feet and still managing to throw a matrix punch while airborne. And nothing beats a 250lb man dance to the ***** street tune while somehow managing to come back and win by KO! It's great **** ZOMG

Exactly. While Haye is a far better fighter than Fraudley, it really remains to be seen if he can handle a HW punch. Given that he was exactly George Chuvalo at cruiser, I'm not optimistic. Those who are pinning their hopes on Haye are likely to be badly disappointed.

Povetkin is the only one to look for and he's an excellent fighter and no other prospect comes close. The heavyweight division is just sad.

povetkin seems solid tho probably no standout in any era. arreola can crack and is a big dude. solis seems limited - short and fat is no way to go through a HW boxing career. maybe haye will carry the weight and do well for a few years. i'm sure some these guys like boystov will be solid. the divsion has to be getting better because it has been really bad since 04 or so (and not that great before then)

    Vladimir Klitschko
    Nicolai Valouev
    Chagaev
    Dimitrenko
    Povetkin
    Virchis
Arreola to name just a few, and these are just a few.

Are you trying to convince me the division is good or bad with that list?

    I'm leaning towards bad.

I don't actually think the HW division is bad now, no.

Of course, I probably would've been getting jazzed about Page vs Coetzee back in the day, so perhaps I'm not the best to judge.

honestly......if you were to name HW names, i wouldnt know who the hell you were talking about, there'll all garbage..... i completly ignore every fight/figther over 200lbs...with the exception of Klitchsko and now David Haye

It isnt bad now, its average ... some mixture of not great older boxers and still inexperienced younger one, with the champions either injuring himself too much, being inactive or unimpressive.

Division need some movement at the top and in the chimneys and some excitement.

Keep an eye on Kasim Howard. He has a good amateur background, is superbly conditioned and showing great promise. He's only had 6 fights but in the one fight I saw of him I was impressed with this kid.

The fightgame is rife with pitfalls but if he can continue to progress I think there's a lot of upside.

Haye would have a PUNCHERS CHANCE against any heavyweight from any era, i think his power is underestimated, he is going to have Tysonesque power at HW.
