i trained a bit at a mma gym awhile back...allow me to say when i started i was **** at wrestling..**** at bjj. however i was 220 pounds..i found that the cut off for beating me though seemed to be about 150...a 70 pound difference...when i rolled with 135 140 130 pound guys i was just to big and strong even though i didnt know what the **** i was doing.... i admit they where guys who had just been good high school wresters..and now where had been doing mma training (with submissions) for maybe 6 months...still vitali is 21 pounds heavier then me (but really i should only be about 175 soild) and 10 inches taller and im sure much stronger....so if some posters are 5"8 155, and have done decent at some regional grappling matches...well then..i just dont know if you would have enough to beat the raw physical advantages..even if vitali cant slam you..... simply put..such a guy might just get layed on for the whole time....
I'm about 210 so I'd fancy my chances of overcoming the size difference if he doesn't know what he's doing.
yeah i think you might be right.. i do know klitschko has worked out a good bit with some K 1 guys....dont know if any of them had any mma traing or not..if he did any mma training with them... i could see vitali's competive nature having him work out on ground work just for the challenge if he was working out with someone skilled in that (during his retirement i know he did alot of different personel training) but then i could also see his intelligence keeping him from doing it..since it has a high injury risk, low reward for boxing ratio....
I originally thought you were another alias of someone...but now that I know your not, your ok by me.
Right... right... grappling match, I do keep forgetting that. Thank you, sir. Whenever these weird types of scenarios get brought up I always think it's the hypothetical "in the street" type of thing. How do you fight the big guy is always the question and I suppose my mind went there.
if you find the thread YOU vs James Toney in a submission grappling match...i was the thread starter for that.
Surely you would not want that, by the sounds of the replies in here none of you know he was a kickboxing world champion before he picked up boxing full time, and guaranteed not a soul here would last 1 round with him in a standup fight.
He could likely pin me with a forearm choke and I couldn't do much about it considering he is so much bigger and stronger than me.
I'm 5'11", 175lbs/80kg When I started I was in the low 70s, and everyone I trained with was 90+. I've trained with guys who weigh as much as 140kg, and are a hell of a lot stronger than Klitschko. Some of the guys I've trained with include World's Strongest Man competitors and national champion powerlifters. He might be able to hold me down for the length of a sport grappling match, but if we removed the time limit I'm fairly confident I'd catch him sooner rather than later.
MCC?! Middlesex Cricket Club? Anyway I'd slap the Peruvian necktie on him and be done with it... Lynchburg
:thumbsupGreat catch. I was thinking the same thing while I read the thread. I'm 5'8 155-157lbs and I would be too light in the ass to take on that kind of beast.
Well I think some guys might actually think that because Klitschko did western kickboxing (which doesn't have leg kicks right?) And they do muay thai they could kick his legs out... I'm sure that unless you are a big elite muay thai guy that aint happening....and even those guys would have their hands full... Klitschko could adjust...push kick you...hell his reach would likely allow him to punch most guys as you kick at him....
