You will all act shocked at how easy gamboa beats crawford

People fall in love with a guys offensive skills and fail to recognize that there are more facets to boxing than just speed and power.

Gamboa had always shown himself to be chinny. Had always gotten hit, and dropped, even as he was outclassing guys at the lower weights.

His offensive skills are superb, the rest of his game is not.

I was pulling for Gamboa to win because Toprank took a massive dump on his career and now being away from the ring and only fighting subpar opponents has left him as what he is

Not taking anything away from Crawford but the fight may have been different againt Gamboa at his best but at the same time he would always give Gamboa problems with his height and as said Gamboa has proved himself to be chinnt

Still need to see the full fight but the knockout was sweet and the 9th round had me on the edge. Congrats to Crawford and commiserations to Gamboa, such a shame that his career wasnt managed better

I don't know why with some Cubans specifically like Gamboa and Solis, fans seem to see what they want to see (true for everyone, but especially so here). Gamboa has always had glaring weaknesses. I'm actually impressed he did as well as he did against Crawford prior to round 5, but even in the follow up rounds when he stood up to big shots for a few more rounds.

 

It is a shame the guy's career has stagnated.

Gamboa beat himself. Period.

He just needs to learn to stay composed and not get over zealous because he lands a good shot. He KO'd himself basically. I've never seen a guy drop his hands like that and basically say I'm gonna KO you now or you're gonna KO me. Its crazy. He was picking Crawford apart easily and could have went back to that after he got rocked had he taken a couple rounds to collect himself instead of trying to fight fire with fire. Crawfords good but Gamboa is better. His defense was stellar before he went nuts and threw his entire plan out the window.

 

Gamboa is a front runner when will you people realize this? He overwhelms people early with his speed power and athleticism and it can work against lesser foes.. If you can get him past the first four rounds he's very beatable. He makes a lot of mistakes and lacks fundamentals. A better boxer like Crawford was patient he was always going to adjust and expose his flaws later in the fight I predicted this and that's what happened.

 

Gamboa was never really anything special. He'd go for broke in the first 4 rounds. Then when he can't get u out of there, he starts walking around the ring looking confused and tries to land pot shots for points. Off balance, leaning in, sloppy combinations, dropping his hands down all the time, it was a matter of time before he got in there against a guy who had proper boxing fundamentals and take advantage of his huge flaws. Crawford was calm, composed and stayed with his game plan.

Gamboa threw his plan out the window because Crawford had him timed like watch. Crawford knew when Gamboa was coming in and knew when Gamboa was throwing a punch. Gamboa got frustrated because he had no options and was heading towards a lose, so he went all out in desperation, trying to score a desperate KO, but got KO'd. Gamboa could have kept his defenses up and made it a UD loss, but Crawford had already won the fight and Gamboa knew it.

Gamboa is the type of fighter who only troubles a skilled technician early. After the early rounds against a skilled technician, it's over, barring a lucky punch. You beat a skilled technician by constantly changing things every few rounds. You start with one look and set of angles, and about round 3 or 4 change the look and angles. Then do it again between 6 and 8. This way the technician has trouble figuring you out and making their adjustments. Changing punch speed and types of punches is a must, too. That's just not Gamboa.
