Not if there is no talent in the gym as in a good trainer and enough quality sparring partners to improve your game to a higher level. Some fighters change trainers and gyms quite a bit over their careers, some for the better, some for the worse.

Manny Pacquaio didn't start out with Freddy Roach. Mayweather has had different trainers over his career. Tyson started out with Cus, the Jacobs and Kevin Rooney as his team, then he dumped them and went with Don King and that crew. Tyson is an example of what not to do, since under King, he fell apart and his career took a definite downturn.

Find the best gym where trainer interacts with you more and has good training sessions and overall good boxing advice, dont train gyms for the sake of it.

Fighting in a gym full of bums is so good on the ego though, at least in the short term. Up until you realize it's just like winning the Special Olympics.

That's why whenever I need an ego boost I go spar a bunch of noobs. Always makes me feel better. It's probably better than taking Prozac.
