I was looking at some less well known prospects outside of the usual names and was wondering if anyone had seen Darryl Williams fight?
I heard good things about him, but can only find one amatuer bout. He was said to have a Tyson esque style to his fighting, but although talked of as a puncher his first two pro bouts have gone to points, so he doesn't appear to be a banger at the moment.

Another one was Adam Etches who is signed to Hatton Promotions. Etches has a 9-0 record with 7 stoppage wins and stopped Bobby Wood in the first round who Williams beat on points.

However, having watched a little bit of Etches I was not impressed, he looks easy to hit, average hand speed and plods a little bit. Here is one fight...

Has anyone seen more of him in the gym or heard anything that suggests he is better than he looks? What about Williams?

Or any other prospects to watch out for?

Here's an amateur bout of Williams. Like many am bouts, it's a bit scrappy at times, but you can see where the Tyson comparisons came from in regards to style. Obviously more wild and not with equivalent power at his weight, but it looks like a style that would translate well to the pro ranks. He is also pretty raw and not been boxing that long, which means he would hopefully improve a lot.

I've seen Williams fight, doesn't look too great at the moment. Is quite rough and doesn't give himself enough space in which to work in. Doesn't make the most of his jab and just wings in wide hooks.

He's out again in September, so hopefully he's put some time in as his last performance was terrible.

Mitchell Smith is the best British teenager Ive seen in a while.

Adam Etches has got a fan friendly style & will be in some fun fights.

Joe Boy Taylor looked impressive on his debut & seems to be a bit of a character

There are some decent prospects in Scotland:

John Thain, Stevie Simmons from Edinburgh

Ian Butcher, Jon Slowey, Michael Roberts jnr from Glasgow

Gary Cornish, Darren Traynor and Matty McAllister from up North

There are more but I just can't think of them right now.

I believe all of the above could challenge for at least British honours.

Although there is far too much emphasis on the "0" these days, I have to question someone who is getting knocked out at low domestic level. But it is early and the other lad can punch apparently.

I'll look into the others mentioned on this thread, if anyone has videos then post them.

Aston was overweight at the weigh-in.
Valentine stopped 18 of 22ish as an amateur, nearly all first round.

Tommy Ghent needs to be busier he turned over with Aston to hayemaker (briefly) then Hearn but while Hearns kept Aston busy on his big shows Ghent has only had 3 fights, was impressed by his debut

Ghent has pulled out of 2 fights through injury, not Hearns fault.

Was just about to ask if anyone had seen Ryder fight. Things like I Film are great for sparking more interest in boxing, but they could unintentionally put guys into a small amount of limelight before it would usually happen. Lads being interviewed and followed after debuts and 2 fights etc...kind of makes the pressure greater and puts them under more scrutiny.
