Kalle confirmed in the post fight press conference that Eubank Jr will be "on the list" of options for an opponent in the final if Groves is not fit in time for the final.

I'd rather Groves takes his rightful place in the final but the Eubanks are disciples of the Warrior's Code and Eubank I'm sure would give Groves a shot for the trophy in a rematch if he is to step in for the final and destroy Smith or Braehmer.

I hope not. eubanks performance was embarrassing... give rameriz or Benavidez the shot if groves can't go.. put eubank in with caleb plant.

I'd rather they postpone the final till Groves recovers, even if it takes a year. Otherwise this trophey wouldn't mean anything.

    I agree.

Tournament has no legitimacy if Groves can't be given a chance in the final. But Kalle has confirmed this is not an option for some reason.

I was worried about something like this. I was hoping they were going to be able to delay it.

WAIT IS THIS KOROBOV'S LUCKY CHANCE?!

In order for that to happen the winner and loser of Smith vs Jurgen B would have to suffer injuries bad enough to prevent them from fighting in the final as well. But if that was to happen, unlikely as it may be, and Kalle and co could draft in a Tony Jeter or Tom Doran level type of opponent to step in for them, well you'd have to favour CEJ to take the trophy home.

Wait... So if Eubank were to have to fill in for his gingerbread papi and beat the Smith/Jurgen winner would the OP consider him the rightful or legit winner of the tournament? Because I certainly wouldn't whether he'd been awarded the trophy or not.

It would make a mockery of the entire tournament if a man who was beaten decisively ended up winning it. They should wait for Groves to heal, otherwise the whole thing loses all credibility.

No. Let me make it clear as a Eubank fan that I want Groves to take his rightful place and that any finalist other than Groves would not be a worthy finalist. However if Groves is replaced, then the eventual winner should box Groves immediately after for the Ali Trophy.

Kalle also said it could be a fighter from outside the tournament.

There are other world champions who might like a big payday, like the chance to unify and have something to offer.. like a belt.

Once Kalle and the others sit down, watch the fight again, look at the reaction on social media and watch and listen to other pros and people involved in boxing absolutely slaughter Jr I think they will look elsewhere.

You can't get completely outboxed, embarrassed, comprehensively beaten and then given a crack in the final.

I honestly believe if Groves can't make the final then another World Champion will step in.

Which one? Truax seems to be the belt holder with the biggest target on his back as everyone seems to view him as low hanging fruit.

The funniest thing that could happen there is Groves has to take some time out and comes back as a unification/tune up and takes Degale's prized IBF title away from him. That might reignite that feud which Degale seems to have let calm down considering he was praising Groves yesterday as his G for schooling someone he likes even less.

The tournament looks a joke if no world title of any repute is on the line at the end of it.
