If these two ever met when they were the phenoms of ths sport, who would you pick to win? I would say Vargas. When he was young he was quick, well schooled, and alawys full of heart.

oh no... surely anyone who thinks vargas could win is going to be *biased* here... so whats the point in making a prediction.

in reality however.... young vargas would outwork and outbox jermain with a few scary rounds, but jermain just backs up way too much.

then again i may not be thinking about the size differance, but imo, if ouma could put jermain to the ropes, so could vargas... and vargas had way more skills and power then ouma.

JT's jab imo isnt that much better then ikes if at all and vargas boxed his way around that...

I would pick JT because he's the naturally bigger guy and even though he's raw and lacks a brain, he can still bring a good fight when his opponent decides to fight also.

I happen to think JT is very very good.... i just dont think he does well against aggresive fighters, he backs himself to the ropes too much and against vargas that would hurt him.

JT by UD or KO. JT is too big for and strong for Vargas. A younger JT used his jab a lot more than he does now. Not to mention Vargas couldn't really hurt JT but JT could hurt Vargas. Vargas was there to be hit and would take a beating against JT.

Actually, JT has done well against aggressive fighters outside of Pavlik. And Pavlik is a special case because he's got a chin like granite and heart of a lion.

It's the crafty guys who use intelligence that JT struggles with because again, the guy lacks a brain. He couldn't find Spinks nor did he have the intelligence to cut him off. Or just let his hands go. He didn't land almost anything against Hopkins in his two fights. He won based on pure activity and aggression. It was Hopkins who landed the clean counter right hands time and time again.

dear god ring master... i swear man, if you think im biased in favor of vargas, your in the opposite direction.

This isnt marquez (lasted 9 and could have gone more)
    this isnt bunema

There is no way in hell that JT finishes young vargas 'early'

Prime trinidad couldnt do it... JT aint doing it.

u may be right klion... but to me, the only reason ouma and winky even had success is because they came forward with aggression. but thinking about it your right he doesnt do that well against boxing eather.

imo he still doesnt do good against aggression, he often gets outworked and backed up in a straight line, usually to the ropes... against smaller and light hitters in ouma and winky, he was able to muscle out a victory, dont know if he could do it against heavier hitters.

you do bring up good points.

I do man. Hes fast, strong, powerful... hes got good basics when allowed to use them.

Lets be real bro... he has only had trouble with ELITE fighters... and if nothing else, besides pavlik, has fought on their level.

if he wasnt good imo he would have never gotten to that level, nor had even close fights with them.
