I recall this muscular cruiserweight/heavyweight fighter who fought out of Chicago in the mid 1970s - 1990s. Name was Eddie Taylor and fought under the nom de plume "Young Joe Louis". Record was 32-19-1. Best wins were over Jesse Burnett and Marvin Camel. First seven years went undefeated until a loss to Ossie Oscasio for the WBA cruiserweight title. Last three years were all loses in an obvious decline. Does anyone recall seeing Young Joe Louis fight? How good was he at his peak? Does anyone know what he is doing now-a-days? Can anyone upload a picture?

I saw the Dale Grant fight right before he got the title shot. Good looking fighter, ripped physique from what I remember, shorter, and fast. The commentators noted his undefeated record but also "pushed" Grant as a contender. Think they clashed heads for the TD2. Grant was the technician and Tayor/YJL was the in-and-out explosive puncher.
Looked to me like Grant was going to outbox and outpoint him that night.

Seems I recall that Dale Grant was clobbering Young Joe Louis in that fight, even knocking him down if I recall correctly. There was a cut which I think was called accidental. Incidentally, I'm not sure how one can state with validity that "Grant was going to outbox and outpoint him that night" as the fight went less than 2 rounds.

Kind of strange, Young Joe Louis' early career he beat all opponents (though many were unknowns). For several years he was undefeated, until the Ocasio fight. After that he won some, lost some before becoming a steppingstone. Still would like to see a pic if available.

Just what I remember from almost thirty years ago, Wolves. Grant looked like he was outboxing him and was slicker. Maybe you remember it more clearly than I did, don't remember a knockdown. Good luck tracking down more info.

"He can call himself Young Joe Louis, but he still figths like old Eddie Taylor."

What fight was Sean announcing when he said that? Seems like it would be late in Eddie's career. Kind of cruel to criticise a fighter when Sean himself got whomped several times...

Can't agree with you. Sean O'Grady didn't call himself "New Rocky Macriano" or "Next Muhammed Ali."
