Interesting mate. Where abouts in the US are you based? I'd love to have a look at your gym if I ever go over there.

I've only had one fight at the moment, I trained my socks off for it but got put in with an ex super heavyweight kick boxing champ. OK the guy was 42 but he still had the chin, power and expierience.

I hurt him and gave him a cut but got TKO'd at the end of a first round that lasted too long. It was unlicensed boxing so there was only 10 oz gloves and no head guard. That loss really took the wind out of my sails and I lost a little motivation. I have a cage fight lined up in September.

I'm 19 and about 235 lb and about 6'3. How far do you think I could go if I trained hard? I would appreciate a reply.

Cheers mate, sounds like your doing a good job.

Boxing is without doubt the GREATEST sport in the world. unfortunately it is filled with the absolute worst people in the world. My best advice would be to take your time and try and find someone trustworthy to help guide your career. Look for someone that's not looking to use you to make quick money. take your time, and be patient with your career. Take time to learn your craft. Seek out the most difficult sparring you can find. Take advantage of every opportunity you can find to spar. Hitting the bags, and padwork are good for conditioning, but if you want to be a good boxer you have to BOX. to me over coming the nervousness of being in the ring fighting another man should be the single most important goal of a fighter. Everything else is easy once that has been achieved.

Thank you very much. I started this thread because I thought it would be cool to talk about a young kid who is just starting out, and keeping people updated on his progress. Should be interesting to see what happens over the course of the next few years, and for it to be documented here.

Thank you for the support. Yes this forum has some really negative people in it. I read through it some times and wonder to myself if some of this people even like boxing. LOL Calling fighters bums, saying they were exposed if they lose on fight, and so on. Funny because I would venture to say these people would lack the courage to even get in the ring.

Thanks... that kind of surprised me that people would make negative comments about a kid. Imagine how terrible the lives of those people must be that they come on here and make comments like that about a kid.
I will definitely keep you updated, and when we record some videos I will be sure to post.

    Keep him dedicated and motivated.

If he wants to progress into something special, nobody is gonna stop him. But you're gotta be motivating him and learning him all the time, keep the young boy hungry for more.

    :good

Maybe in a few years I'll be seeing him winning a national gloves or progressing as a pro.

Good luck to the kid. I dropped someone who outweighed me 60lbs the other week. The look on people's face when they see a kid with power is priceless.

Sorry I meant to say ex British champion but he had fought a world champ, I'm sure you can tell it was a horrible mismatch anyway.

I agree with the point about sparring, I just didn't get enough against heavy weights to prepare me for the power that guy had.

My trainer wasn't to blame it was a promoter I know who I did a favour for who set me up. I was meant to be against a 24 year old with no expierience, turned out he just lied to me because my opponent sells tickets.

I learned the hard way to let my trainer manage the fights from now on though lol.
