Not sure if this is right or not. To engage the muscles you are about to use, lenghten the muscles aswell as strenghen?
In what way do you disagree? Stretching sore muscles has been shown to increase recovery time. Stretching is good for..... Relaxation and time for reflection maybe
Completely wrong in all regards. It doesn't engage the muscle, it stretches the cytoskeleton. Again, it doesn't lengthen the muscle, only the cytoskeleton and for a short period of time. It most definitely doesn't strengthen a muscle, it has the opposite effect and impairs power production in anything you are about to do. Stretch at other times, it's pointless but whatever. Static stretching before any exercise and you have to be an idiot.
So stretching is pointless? What is Yoga for? how come if I stretch (even just touching my toes), that I can progressively stretch further and therefore be able to perform certain excercises more efficiently, if you are more flexible you will perform better. Why do you need to warm up prior to excercise? or warm down? I'm not an expert, (you might be) but I know for a fact stretching benefits me from both being able to perform better and less soreness.
