just becuz a media darling gets overpaid it doesnt mean his fights are all superfights. They will never talk about SRL Benitez the way they do Ali-Frazier. A superfight has to transcend the sport like Steve Farhood wrote about otherwise it's not a superfight. SRL-Benitez was a highly forgettable affair that people rarely even mention, let alone want to discuss in detail. Take something like Pryor Arguello which was much more anticipated or hagler Hearns. Those were bouts in which like Ali-Frazier, the public demanded a rematch. Was there demand for SRL-Benitez #2? Again, Louis Schmeling and Dempsey Tunney were considered superbouts at the time but Leonard-Benitez was highly forgettable. Even the stoppage was a dissapointment, devoid of any drama or action
You didn't answer my question. Did Holmes and Jones split a record-breaking multi-million dollar purse between each other? Yes or no?
Why was he overpaid? Nor do they talk about any other superfight that way. No it doesn't. Farhood wrote that Leonard-Benitez was a "classic". Oops... :yep Your buddy Farhood says otherwise. yep No less than there was demand for Jack Johnson-Jim Jeffries #2.
