Wow @GOAT Primo Carnera I have accorded you great respect (and at times admiration) for many of your posts. I'm both surprised and disappointed you would say that about me.

I choose to continue respecting your posts and you, hoping that you'll understand how unfair your post was.

    Hoping to still be friends,

    Rules

PS: It personally never surprises me when Holmes is called Greatest of all time heavy because look at what he accomplished. He was unbeatable for more years than practically any other heavy. He had the best left jab, period.

But keep in mind, Larry and George are my favorite fighters, so I'm biased lol

You are absolutely right, @mark ant

Here's the other side: Bowe had one of the top six or seven left jabs in the history of heavyweight boxing, would NOT have been intimidated by Mike at all, and was pretty damn great fighting on the inside. He also had perhaps the greatest right uppercut that wasn't Foreman or Shavers. He was also big and bullying.

Mike would have been shellacked until the ref stops it in 8 imo. It would have been yet another example of a good big man being too much for a good smaller man.

Mike had the most skilled offense in heavyweight history, Bowe was nowhere near that level.

Of course he would not beat Ali in a boxing ring but in a free fight it is a different history. Boxing is the most limited combat sport and i would say one of the weakest against another fight sistems.

There wasn't a single fighter amongst Mike's 80s opponents who was as commandingly powerful or as good at infighting as 1992 Bowe. Not one of them had the jab of that Bowe, nor as strong an uppercut.

True, it's likely Mike would rock him hard. But Bowe would just bully the hell out of him (it would be a foul-filled contest). I just don't see Mike taking those punches...he would be out-intimidated from the stare-down on.

That said, as I mentioned before, I consider Mike a significantly greater ATG than Bowe.

I agree with everyone on your list on who'd beat Tyson. But would give several others outside chances. Only fighter I disagree with on your list is Bowe. I don't like his defense against someone like Mike.

I have Mr. Carnera on ignore but chose to view his post. The "something fell on your head" comment was directed to that idiot SerbianLoudmouth. Not you. And yes, it was well warranted.

I'd say Bowe is the least likely, sure. I guess I was just SO impressed by what he did in that first Holy fight. I saw it the day it happened, and I honestly thought he was the Next Big Thing. So disappointed...

Bowe vs Tyson would certainly be interesting. It would likely have happened too had Mike not gone to prison and won the title back from Holy.

A good jab and uppercut are probably the most dangerous things for a short swarmer. I think Mike might have had to get Bowe out of there relatively early, because Bowe wouldn't allow a slower pace with rest in the clinches later on in the fight. He held a terrific pace and was a great infighter for such a big man.

Along these lines - and I'm suffering from the same mental displacement as Wass1985 - Ali did a profile segment on a 60 Minutes type show (I don't believe it was 60 Minutes itself though); they followed him through a typical day, at one point getting a haircut at a neighborhood barber shop. This was years after he'd retired, but before he'd declined as far as he did. He was chatting with other customers, and one young man said, "Nobody else wanna say it, but I will - Mike Tyson woulda beaten you!"

Ali regarded him with wry, weary exasperation, and said only "(N-word) please!"

Is that Mike side of story or what?
I only saw McCall kno ked him down!
What Bruno did to cocaine addict version of McCall? He just hold and rabit punched!
He would be good in first couple rounds as allways and then fold like he allways did even in McCall fight he was lucky to survive he hugged so much in final rounds!

He lost every time he stepped up except for McCall fight and Oliver wasn't nearly as skilled as K2 or haye! (BTW also a former drug addict)
overrated if anything.he was barely any good at all. His biggest archievement at his overrated status as a fighter apparently is based on giving hard fight for few rounds against guys in past, lol. His best win is o.mccall ffs..
What hurts bruno the most was that he really didn't have any signature wins.. He had a bunch of signature fights vs tyson, lennox, witherspoon,, but never asignature win besides outpointingmccall. That shows that his punching power is not special!
