Most of us don't know a damn thing about Lockett, and that makes it impossible to lay out any kind of analysis. Jack Leow said Lockett reminds him of Zertuche. One poster on here, who said he has seen Lockett several times, laid out an analysis. After I read it I told him, "You just described the Zertuche fight!" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Z_OhYaDy5k
I'd love to have Pavlik vs Abraham while Calzaghe vs RJJ takes place. Let the WINNERS get it on with one another. That fight could potentially and esentially UNIFY one guy from 160-175. That's one hell of a legacy accomplishment:good
That article I posted from the Sunday paper has been about all there has been lately in Ytown. I can't go myself. Back to work after 6.5 months off and I can't get time off during 'the season'.
I personally don't think Pavlik has any business at SMW. Let him rule the MW division for a few years and then maybe he can move up. Not to say that Pavlik wouldn't be a top contender at SMW, but he would certainly lose a lot of the advantages he has at MW.
I didnt care about the fight until I noticed them mention the fight at the end of the HBO commercial. Its going to be a great fight. Juan Manuel Lopez coming out party. :happy
Taylor and Miranda are both in the top 10 in every major sanctioning body. Zuniga has not lost at SMW and holds the IBO title. He'll beat Pascal and then he will also be top 10 at 168. These 3 guys have one thing in common; they all got pavlikated.
160 is not an easy weight for Pavlik to make. He keeps saying he will do it as long as he can but health is always mentioned. Some good indicators pointing to a Pavlik/Calzaghe show down as long as Pavlik takes care of business with Lockett.
A win over Abraham won't be enough for a Miranda rematch for Pavlik. He is sitting pretty now and will get some big fights. Maybe if a year or so, if they both keep winning and Kelly moves us, we will get to see the rematch at 168lbs.
I'll be there with at least 3 friends, but that's more because we're just college kids going with the goal of being as obnoxious as possible at this fight, and then the USA-Argentina futbol game the next day at Giants Stadium. I wouldn't expect this fight to be as hyped as the Taylor one since Lockett is essentially a no-name, but I'm hoping there is still a good crowd there in support of KP.
