    1) Willie Pep - he's just the greatest boxer to me. hit and don't be hit, brains over braun. what this sport is all about. greatest feet ever.

    2) Pernell Whitaker - my childhood hero. so playful and imaginative. full of heart too.

    3) Wilfredo Benitez - Every one of his fights that i've seen have just been astounding. He puts on the these performances against great quality opposition, win or lose, he's always impressive.

Too many honorable mentions but i'll do a few: james toney, jack johnson, archie moore, jersey joe, joe louis, roy jones jr., charley burley, duran, hearns, ike williams, ray robinson, morales, barrera, frazier, ali, ricardo "el finito" lopez.

Frazier - Just plain gutsy. His performance in the FOTC is something I still marvel over.

Foreman - I have to admit that I like sluggers, and they don't come much sluggier than Foreman. Add to that his comeback and his awesome grill and you have a winner.

RJJ - Incredible to watch in his prime with blistering hand speed and freakish reflexes. I just wish he'd gone up against better fighters, because I'm not sure if we really know how good he was during his prime.

OF FIGHTERS OF MY TIME ONLY,No order-
Joe Louis- The greatest heavyweight and most admired fighter.Oozed class...
2-Rocky Graziano- When he was coming up was the most heart pounding street brawler I ever saw fight. His fights were like watching a street brawl...Chickee the cops !!!
3-Prime, Beau Jack- without doubt, the most action packed fighter I ever saw. Sold out MSG 7 TIMES in one year. Uppercuts, bolo punches, hooks, crosses, overhand rights, leaping
left hooks, all 15 rounds.Tis a shame for ESB fans only film of him was past peak, when
Ike Williams slaughtered Beau in Philly 1948,which I saw and wept....

    1. Bernard Hopkins- His in ring intelligence and mental toughness is something to behold considering hes fighting at the top level at 46 years of age. His performances against Trinidad and Pavlik is something that young kids should study at school

    2. Muhammad Ali- Hes the reason why i got into boxing the first place, surely the best HW fighter of all time and his personality is something i tried to mimic as a youth growing up.

    3. Roberto Duran- His intensity in the ring is ridicolous, his character aswell. I still cant believe how great his fights were against De Jesus, Leonard and Barkley. His beard is respectable too

    1. Aaron Pryor
For fighting every fight with huge chip on his shoulder, my hands down favorite... Too many reasons to list.
    2. Hagler
Among reasons already posted, fighting from orthodox and southpaw and being dangerous in both was unheard of. Took it toHearns. Truly bad man.
    3. Duran
    Relentless,

    2_george foreman/joe frazier

    3_ jake lamotta

(evander hoyfield, carlos monzón, mike tyson, joe louis, sonny liston)

1_ali is the best boxer ever in the planet, plain and simple, he would beat anyone in his prime-
2_george foreman , i love his style, he was an absolute animal and he destroyed a bull like frazier as a kid. old foreman was competent against a legend like prime holyfield.
joe frazier , this guy had 2 balls, his courage was incredible, his style was incredible, he was the ultimate pressure fighter, he was like armstrong.
3_jake lamotta, well, he was a rock and he would face anyone in any place. he had no fear to the mafia.

    This week anyway:

    1. Duran is a great human interest story, came from nothing, fueled by anger, two old men come in and give him a century's worth of boxing knowledge, his rise, a disgraceful fall, and the phoenix rises again ...and on it went.

    2. Novices can be told that they can be the next Robinson, or Pep, or Tyson. Not one of them can become the next Greb. As Burt says, "there will never be another."

    3. Arguello represented all that can be noble in boxing. I still root for him even watching film of fights he long since lost.

Roberto Duran- there's a difference between an aggressive fighter and a vicious fighter. Joe Frazier was an aggressive fighter, a powerhouse, great to watch, sparked excitement in the minds of men. Roberto Duran was a vicious fighter, a passion driven master, special to watch, sparked awe in the hearts of men.

Mike Tyson- It's just a thing that goes back to me being a kid. I can't speak for everyone in my city obviously, but where i come from, and from the people i grew up with, Tyson is a hero. Whenever there was a Tyson fight we'd get the ppv, i'd stay up late, the sofas would be moved in front of the tv, i'd fall asleep, my mum and dad would wake me up, tell me about how i'm too young to remember how good Tyson used to be before jail, then we'd watch Tyson ko someone. I worship the ground the man walks on. Loved by good people and hated by douchebags and sluts.

Sugar Ray Robinson- it's going to take a miracle for a fighter to live who will be better in my opinion, for the simple reason that it was a miracle that he even existed once, what are the odds it will happen again? Slim to none.

Big honourable mentions to Yoko Gushiken, Bernard Hopkins, and Gavin Rees.

Alexis Arguello - Just a true warrior and a great role model.

Barney Ross - Again a great role model and an excellent fighter, him and Arguello sum up the perfect fighter.

Bernard Hopkins - He's not the usual type of person I like, he is arrogant and talks a lot. But I really respect his ability and passion for the sport. He's also a fighter I watch for hours on end looking at his technical skills.

(Ezzard Charles just misses the cut)

    Marshall, Charles and JJWalcott...

in all 3 you've got EXCELLENT boxers and movers, Charles the purest, Walcott and Marshall just as skilled, beautifull to watch and one more cuter than the other, cagey and effective...

I once picked them as the top men in my stable of fighters over at BoxRec and someone said you'd have a losing team then! how they figure that God only knows!!!

Muhammad Ali - Pure entertainment outside the ring & loved his movement inside the ring, mostly in his prime, just a complete legend.
Erik Morales - 100% warrior, great technician, always gives entertainment & he is just the man.
Too many to mention, no standouts.

Yeah, someone was talking **** to you there, in Charles you have one of the best fighters of all time, in Marshall you have one of the best win resumes (credit to SuzieQ for pointing this out some time ago), and in Jersey Joe you have one of the best pairs of feet ever on a fine boxer.
