haven't seen Hagler vs Duran mentioned yet, that is one of my most watched fights from both of them

 

I watched the McNeeley fight now. Great and exciting performance by Floyd Patterson who showed a potpourri of his outstanding skills and techniques.

I think you have chosen a fine fighter as your favorite. Unfortunately, his all-time rating is a little overshadowed by his losses to Ali and Liston in particular. Imagine if there was no Liston. I think Patterson would be ranked way higher today...

As the commentator mentioned during the McNeely fight: "Patterson is a notoriously late starter". I recently saw his first fight against Quarry and during the first round I thought about why he didn't use this strategy against Liston (especially in the mentally crucial first fight). Instead of exchanging blows he fought way more cautiously and elusively with better footwork and lateral movement...
I guess he could've lasted a while longer with another gameplan. But anyway, it's like football, everyone can be a fan of the strongest, most successful and most perfect teams like Bayern Munich, Real Madrid or whatever but it's also kinda boring.

Btw., I got a copy of his autobiography "Victory Over Myself". Well, more specifically, screenshots from archive.org that I printed out. I look forward to reading it soon. It is likely a profound and inspiring read.

Finally, a little "friendly hook" to McNeeley's body at the end of round 2 that caught my eye which shows class and sportsmanship.
