You are an armchair general or the coach in the ring corner.
What final advice would you give Kessler before he enters the ring.
Let's try to keep them one-liners and leave the analysis for the other threads.

Keep your distance at all times, it's all in your foot-work.

    Stay away from any brawling.

Walk to ya left and show me a lot of straight rights.

Stick to the gaqmplan - Keep your distance, be aggressive but not reckless, outbox this guy from the outside

Dont try matching Calzaghe punch for punch. Quality not quantity. When Calzaghe's flurrying, keep your head and counter with well-picked, hard shots. Dont panic and start trying to match Calzaghe's output.

Fear of losing makes you train harder I suppose. And it makes you fight back harder when the chips are down. Calzaghe is petrified of losing which is probably one of the reasons he's never lost. And you could say one of the reasons he fought a load of mediocre opponents.

    why thank you

mark my words, Kessler is good enough to win this, but its a massive challenge. Guys like Byron Mitchell and Charles Brewer could've beaten Calzaghe, but they got dragged into wars and lost. Byron Mitchell had Calzaghe hurt and on the deck, but instead of keeping his head when Calzaghe got back up he started trading and lost his advantage.

Jeff Lacy didn't know what to do when Calzaghe starting landing so many punches, he was totally overwhelmed. Athetically Lacy is a superb fighter but I don think he's a very intelligent one, because he didn't know how to handle Calzaghe's punch volume. He had no idea what to do in that position. For all his intimidating power and ability, he was tactically weak. I think Kessler might not have Lacy's power but he's a much smarter fighter, so I think he has a better chance of beating Calzaghe than Lacy ever had.

When Calzaghe starts opening up on Kessler, Kessler has to learn from their mistakes and not try matching it, because that plays into Joe's hands. If Kessler keeps his cool and picks the right shots he can hurt Calzaghe. Its been done before, except the fighters that hurt him never managed to finish things off, because when they saw him hurt they went in all-guns blazing and thats the last thing you wanna do when Calzaghe's hurt. Calzaghe is a tough *******, and when he's hurt like that he starts letting his hands go, and he's very dangerous. If Kessler rocks Calzaghe he needs to keep his cool and not jump in, just be smart, bide his time and the KO will come.

Incidentally the man who I think gave Calzaghe the most bother was Robin Reid, who's an excellent counter-puncher with big power. He did well because even though Calzaghe was outworking him, he consistantly hit Joe with massive counter right hands. Reid was very clever and Kessler needs to be too.
