i think mayweather is in for a long nite...this extra time has given marquez more time to get comfortable with the extra weight he will have gained.

The only way that Floyd truly comes out on top is if he absolutely decimates Marquez. It will give him considerable leverage at the negotiating table for a future Pacquiao fight.

JMM is my favorite active fighter, but he is going to get beat down by a bigger and younger fighter with comparable skills. This fight is a joke.

That is the only way I see this being of any benefit to PBF. If it's a 12 rnd decision then this will not do much for him.

For PBF, it's a tune up fight. For JMM, it's a big fight. I can't remember the last time somebody fought a #2 P4P for a tune up fight. I like JMM but IMHO, he'll lose this fight. All the advantages are on PBF's side.

When Mayweather wants to prove a point he can be brutial. Look at for example his fight with Gatti. I'm not trying to compare Gatti to Marquez but Gatti was at the time bette than he sometimes is given credit for he had not lost sence 2002. I beleve Mayweather has a point to prove. a lot of people will look at this as a tune up or set up fight for Mayweather before he faces the Pacquio/Cotto winner (Pacquaio). Hence 144 rather than 147. For a tune up fight and for a guy who suposedly ducks everyone Mayweather is taking on the guy most people view as the second best boxer in the world. This is a set up fight for whoever wins (Maweather) to face the Pacquaio/Cotto winner.
At 5′ 8″ Mayweather is an inch taller than Marquez. However May weather with his 72″ reach has a 5 inch reach over Marquez's 67″ reach. Mayweather should be able to take advantage of this advantage. The two big questions regaurding Mayweather are How dose the layoff effect him and how dose the weight loss efect him. What would the win do for Mayweather? I think If mayweather wins marquez will unfairly be down graded. People will point out that before losing to him Juan Daiz was doing pretty good and that he lost and had a draw with Pacquaio. Also that the judging in the Barrera who people will insist was shot was very genrous in his favor. Which is a shame because Marquez is very good. Also Marquez is at the cusp of being the best boxer Mexico has ever produced. That is saying a lot it is too bad no one is taking notice. Should he beat Mayweather and than go on to beat the Pacquiao/Cotto winner he should surpass Chavez and Shanchez. A lot is on the line for both Mayweather and Marquez. For Marquez it is a chance to become the best boxer from a country that has prudeced some of the best in the sport. For Mayweather a win over Marquez and than the Pacquiao/Cotto winner puts him amongest the best of all time.
In the end I think Mayweather who has a point to prove will win within 7 rounds.

Marquez coming up again, this time from lightweight to welterweight, too much weight for such a shot period of time, and at Marquez' age.

This is the set up fight for Pacquiao, common opponents are always used as set up fights

What fight? This is more cherrypicking from a guy who wants no part of anyone who poses even the slightest threat at 147. Fights like these don't do boxing any favors. Floyd is a show fighter. Can't fault Marquez for taking the fight cuz of the money and the opportunity but he's out of his league here and a Floyd victory is gonna give his fans more artificial ammunition to boost his "legacy."

A risky fight for PBF then, in your opinion?

Risky in a bad way. Not risky as in "I'm going against a fighter who has a good chance of beating me". But risky as in "If i don't win convincingly, it will seriously hurt my legacy".

And even if he does win convincingly, most people wouldn't give him props, they would probably attribute the win to the size disparity.

Losing would really really hurt his legacy. Imagine losing against a smaller, shorter, older and probably less talented fighter.

What exactly would be the point he's proving? That he can beat a blown up lightweight who's older, slower and smaller?

It's a tune up fight, nothing more. And if it turns out to be a good, close fight, it will be a testament to Marquez's ability not to Floyd's.

I see the same newbies posting the same stuff they did for the DLH/Pacquiao fight.

The way I see it this is a competitive/tough fight, no way in hell is Marquez tune-up material especially not for Mayweather coming off 2 years of inactivity and an injury which caused the postponement. If you notice when they fight was announced the size difference wasn't THAT big and that was a lightweight Marquez, when the weigh in is there expect size to not be an issue at all for Marquez.
