Corrie Sanders against Wladimir Klitschko. I knew that Sanders wasn't going to run from Wlad, and from watching him I knew he was aggressive, a fast starter, a southpaw, and hit like a truck.
I picked Williams and Thomas to beat him lol, but Douglas was a bridge to far. I have never met someone who picked Douglas over Tyson untill today. If true and I have no reason to believe it is not....well that one can’t be topped on this forum unless someone lived to pick Schmeling over Louis in their first fight lol.
If he favors fighters with strong left hands, but knew not to pick Thomas and Holmes--two of the best heavyweight jabs in history--or the guy with a nice jab who stopped Douglas, but did in fact pick Douglas to win because of his left hand, I think he might be the second coming of Jesus behind the keyboard.
Holmes was way past it. I always said a 78-82 Holmes beats Tyson. Pink was a one armed fighter. A in shape Douglas was as close as you could get to Holmes out of all the fighters of that time which is why I picked him.
I wasn’t really questioning whether it was true or not,...just meant if true it was a good pick. I have no reason to think someone is lying in this thread. I think we have probably all made great underdog picks and that we have all made picks that look bad afterwards lol. While I was not a big Lewis appreciator at the time, I still did not like the rocks chances in this fight.
My first Purple album was Burn (at the time I didn't even know about the Gillan years), back in '74 when it came out. I bought Stormbringer next, then found out shortly later about Mr. Ian and the amazing Mark II. I love all the albums you mentioned....HUGE Who fan (especially the 70s stuff). WOW are we off topic, sorry folks.
