GGG feels out Canelo in round one. Carries him in rounds 2 and 3. Commences destruction in round 4. Same pattern in his last two fights.
GGG round 8 or Canelo on controversial cards. Think canelo will look flashy for the first couple of rounds with good hand speed til he gets caught for the first time by GGG. Will then look to counter as GGG stalks him and cuts off the ring, will start to tag him more often, then in mid-late rounds starts opening up more and landing hard hurtful punches before taking him out. GGG is prepared to take punches just to get his own off, dont think Canelo has the power to make Golovkin back off. Both great fighters, hopefully will live up to the hype.
Not very bold I think. First one or two rounds would be feelouts with Golovkin stalking Alvarez. Then Alvarez gets hit with something big, and from there on it's GGG dominating and counting rounds until it ends, depending on Canelo's toughness. Golovkin between 3 and 8. (prediction in bold font)
Canelo is inferior physically to GGG but he's good at upper body movement and countering. So GGG will not come in swinging, but he will seek to establish his superior jab early on and use that as a lever to crack open Canelo's defence. Canelo is going to have a hard time sticking and moving if Golovkin's jab is in his face all night so he's likely going to have to try and move in close and trade, which is a bad idea given that Golovkin is stronger. Golovkin will likely try to steer Canelo to the ropes to trap him there, especially given Saul's penchant for fighting off them. That's a bad, bad place to be against Golovkin, just ask Stevens. If Canelo has success slipping GGG's shots, then Gena will likely switch to the body to soften him up. Canelo has the speed and skill to hang with Golovkin while outworking him, so long as he can ship punishment - and he will ship punishment. I think the first 5 or so rounds might even favour Canelo before GGG's constant pounding slows him down. Once that happens, goodnight. I don't think Gena will blow him out fast, Canelo is a slippery customer and I suspect that his chin is A-grade. But Canelo is comparitively flatfooted and won't be able to get away from Golovkin. I predict Golovkin stopping him in the 8-10th round.
Just got a feeling that the status quo will prevail. The hugely popular Mexican fighter will prevail over the dangerous but outsider Kazakh. I don't see GGG knocking out Canelo. As long as it's competitive Canelo will get the nod. The Murata fight, the Kovalev fight (with Ward taking 6 consecutive rounds on the cards) even the Rances Barthelemey vs Relick fight where Barthelemey was outlanded by 100 punches tell me what I need to know. A side politics play a huge role in boxing where scoring is so subjective. If GGG KOs Canelo I'll be surprised
I feel if GGG gets that feeling he has Canelo we can see a repeat of Special K on Canelo late in the fight. He might not KO Canelo but he will go for the KO and at least drop big Red once if not twice. Both guys are going to be in epic shape come fight night as this is the most important fight at this stage for both guys. GGG late TKO
Hopefuly GGG TKO but somehow I see this fight going to the cards and it will be hard for the judges to give it to GGG. Unfortunately I see a very controversial decision for Canelo. But this is definitely a 50/50 fight now.. If you wouldve asked me 3 years ago I wouldve said GGG by KO Rd 5 or 6. The thing is I think GGG wins it either way.. But theyll give it to the cash cow since Oscar will be all over those judges lol
