I cant see this going to the cards. Golovkin stops Canelo rounds 7 or 8. Canelo does well early on but GGG is taking them to land his own and they will take their toll on Canelo who will go down a couple of times but manages to get back up. Ref stops it as he has seen enough. It just seems everything is being based on Golovkins last performance and too much has been read into how he performed that night. Jacobs seemed to have serious reach advantages over him and some serious power to go with it, Golovkin was respectul of those things and was the most flat footed ive ever seen him, he went from being near genius at cutting off the ring to a flat footed club fighter, i know he is getting older but you dont go from one to the other in a matter of months. The footwork was still there and as good as ever against Brook. Canelo, although him and Oscar irritate the hell out of me, is an elite level Boxer i cant deny it but he has been held back from 160 for a reason, that 155lb thing was there as a deterent to the top Middleweights. He wasnt ready for this fight then and he still isnt ready for it now, he never will be. His power has been such a big part of his success and im not sure its carried as much as hoped to 160, hes not throwing feathers but its not guna put the shakes into opposition at 160. He doesnt have the power and reach to keep Golovkin off him and when you cant keep Golovkin off you you dont hear the final bell.
This is how I seeing it playing out as well except I'm thinking the unlikely outcome of GGG UD12, with likely at least one scorecard that raises eyebrows
Golovkin has to know that if it goes to the cards he's getting shafted without ****. He'd have to half kill Canelo to get a points win. IMHO if it gets to the end of the 10th and Canelo is still standing, GGG has to throw everything into the last two rounds to get him outta there or he's losing.
this is a very good post. The issue for me is whether Canelo can successfully counter GGGs jab. Also, can Canelo get the better of Golovkin in the exchanges? If Canelo is getting off first and/or countering well in the exchanges then I can see him winning the fight. However, if GGG can nullify those fast hands and get his shots in then your theory will prevail. Such a good fight.
If Golovkin doesn't get the stoppage, and the fight is competitive, he won't win on the cards. He basically needs to KO Canelo to win.
Yeah i hear you, but hopefully not, I think it will be clear.....G's jab and ability to cut off the ring vs Red's flat feet.....the first half will be nip and tuck but down the stretch Canelo is going to get beat up
