My new record, as of tonight, is 3-3. I lost a close decision, it was scored 22-19. I'm not complaining, I took more punches than I normally do, and it was a close call.
12-0, 2 provincial championships, novice, open, then one national open title. hoping to get more fights this year.
Only read the first 5 pages but some serious crap being talked by some. I got to about page 4 before I seen anyone with a losing record! I am 3-6 in the amatuers, this is my second season boxing. Had 3 fights this season and lost them all but the standard of fighter I have been facing is a lot better, they have been far more experinced than me. I don't worry about my record as long as I know that I am constantly getting better as a boxer.
Man, I'm 36 and just started with a trainer. I'm hoping to storm through the masters division in my area like Tyson through a tomato can factory! :thumbsup Good to see another old guy out there going at it! :bbb
Masters. But there's no such thing in the Netherlands so unless the Nederlandse Boksbond grants me permission to fight another year I'm screwed.
jeff, im a bit puzzled by the novice and open class thing.i think its a good idea that there are championships for novice's but as far as i'm aware, when i boxed in the late 70's you started as a raw novice then a novice, but i don't know when and becane open class when you'd won a regional title.ie west lancs and cheshire. then you could only fight other open class fighters, and only over 3 x 3. is the novice to open class still the same, or not ??
It really depends where you are. Here in Canada novice is 10 fights or under. There is no sub novice, only novice and open. But yes, only open class fighters can fight open class, and novice novice....unless, you move early from novice to open. Upgraded that is. In which case you need a reason for it and a no loss record and min of 5 fights and letters from coach and another official. I did this but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who is young. did it to get more fights and it ended up backfiring and being tougher to get matches. I think the move from novice to open is fairly common in most places though, as far as them not being allowed to fight each other. We have a masters class also, which is new and this is an extention of new overall AIBA rules so I think this goes for most places.
