Champ from the casbar I remember watching it.He was a good little fighter.Me and my mate honestly predicted a round one stoppage in the Cowdell fight,we were half taking the **** but it came true.Pat was down several times as I remember good times and Pat won the return(I think)

Pat used to train on being knocked down due to his problems making weight.

My dad tells me he was our version of Vicenzo Nardiello. Quirky little character and a top bloke by all accounts.

Noel Wilders was also a quality little operator aswell.

How could i forget the little Pocket Rocket, Francis Ampofo. Saw him a couple of times at York Hall.

His only world title attempt. Put up a good effort.

The lower weights in the 90's provided plenty of action. Ampofo-Regan trilogy, 1 Smooth against Adey Lewis and Stephen Oates, Brodie-Swain, Oliver-Mullings etc.

You can't go wrong with Pat Barrett if you're looking for knockouts:

One of the most explosive finishers in British boxing history.

I think their 2nd fight is regarded as the best, although it's the only one I don't have at the moment.

Was a shame he never got started against Nelson. He was a much better fighter than that.Good shot from Nelson though.
Tony Sibson was another fighter from around that time who had a great following. There was a lad who I think was from Leeds Tom Collins who was also always in a decent domestic scrap.

Christ! He didn't just walk into that right hand but took a flying leap.

As for Pat Barrett, he scored some of the most scary one punch ko's I've ever seen. Amazed he didn't kill someone. I believe he fought a tricky american for a belt (Manning Galloway?) but lost a decision. Possibly a bit of an underachiever?
