do yourself a favour and avoid watching it, Perez wanting to cuddle Jennings everytime he threw a punch, Wlad Klitesqe performance.
Sadly it appears Perez is turning into the typical obese cuban professional boxer. What is it with these guys. Every one of them screws themselves my turning into fat slobs.
115-112 Jennings Perez was a double screwup last night. Had he been in shape he would have easily beaten Jennings and then he screws up his chance on a draw too by headbutting and hitting after the break in the last round... seriously, what was that guy thinking?
Perez is the much better boxer. In shape and fully fit perez would kill jennings. Jennings isn't that good to be honest. He's alright. But nothing great. Perez was all over jennings in the 1st half of the fight. Adam booth told Perez to break his heart by embarrassing him in the 4th. And then jennings couldn't even land a punch in the 4th. No doubt about it perez is 1 or 2 levels above jennings skillwise. The fight score cards were fairly spot on for me . it was a fight of two halfs. But Jennings definitely deserved to win cause he wanted it so much more and how could u give it to a man who had the look on his face of a fighter who had already given up and thought he was gonna loose from halfway through the fight. Aside from perez having poor stamina. He really lacks heart. When things get a bit tough he just gives up. I really wanted him to win last night cause I was a big fan. But he just needs to get his head sorted and priorities in order now. This was probably a fight that could of went either way. But I think jennings SLIGHTLY edged it but definitely deserved it more due to perez given up attitude. I don't like to see that. Perez threw it away!!!!!
Perez just fell into Jennings a lot w/o doing any good work. However, Jennings let Perez walk him down all night. Maybe he was trying to pace himself for his first 12-rounder, but he should've been trying to avoid getting walked down and tangled up all the time. W/ all that said, I can see where people think Perez or Jennings owon. Or where it was a draw. I didn't score it, but I liked the fact that Jennings wasn't looking to tie up all night.
Horrible strategy implied by Jennings' corner. He should have used the jab way more and stayed on the bike. They were playing right into Perez's strong suit.
Think part of the reason jennings wasnt keeping perez at range was that he simply could not hit perez from range. Perez was pretty slick from distance but has no defense whatsoever inside. All of jennings success came from in close so it was beneficial to allow perez to close the distance.
Very good point! And w/ Jennings' long reach, you'd think he'd done better fighting from the outside. Taking this point into account, I'd like to see Jennings fight a taller fighter before his mandatory shot at the Stiverne-Wilder winner. It won't happen, but it'd prepare him better.. . . .
Yeah seems like he has to think before he punches, especially from the outside, which against someone like perez is going to be ineffective. On the inside he seems to just let his hands go naturally and is much more effective. Probably due to his late start in the sport
I hate Bjorn cleaning winning 7/5 in rounds then the deduction capped it off. Perez is a total waste. Dudes got skills and decent chin but he doesn't know how to fight to win. Typical Cuban pro , lost in the Ring
