Untrue Janitor and I expect better from you buddy. Many early fights aren't able to be seen now.. yet we go by newspapers decision and what the majority felt won. We can't them, but we give greb credit for all these wins. Same thing here... The MAJORITY felt Walcott won... fans.. ref.. sportswriters... the clips we can see shows walcott clearly outboxing Louis.. Knocking him down twice.. we see louis tryign to leave the ring before the decision is read... yeah Janitor we can say it's probably Walcott won that fight.. just like we can say it's probably Greb won many fights we can't see.

Yeah, we do, but we use newspaper decisions only when there are no judges decisions to rely upon.

Listen, if YOU want to believe the newspapermen over the judges, consistently, that is entirely your business, nobody can tell you otherwise. Speaking personally, I don't take any fight i've seen too much for granted. I've been surprised too many times.

kurupt, I assume you have Charles winning the 4th Walcott fight then right? More ringsiders had Charles winning that one.

NWS fights have no other way of being judged other than consensus reports and those results change as more writeups are discovered. Plus I doubt people hold them in the same light as official fights. Afterall the losing fighter only had to remain on his feet to avoid losing so an official differently ht would play out differently.

Well, here's the **** i've dug up just looking at The Day report.

    1) Associated Press had it scored 5-5.

    2) "Fans boo Walcott. There were boos for the slow, cautious way things went. Referee Frank Fullam kept urging Walcott to get in and fight.

So basically without trying, and by looking at a single newspaper report, the case for Louis becomes absolutely clear.

Charles record against jersey now reads 3-1 with the sole loss being by way of a once in a life time shot.

Kurupt disagrees with himself regarding pea v Oscar since more people scored for Oscar.

I actually have Walcott winning both fights. He won the first one really and while Louis has a case for the second, Walcott took it spiritually.

I assumed that in the second fight at least, the outcome was not even theoreticaly questionable.

Well your obsession seems to be "how could anyone possibly score the fight for Louis?" as though the judge doing so was clearly corrupt. This newspaper report has Walcott boxing negatively and the fight even going into the last round. That surely goes some way towards answering your question?

    I don't.

But when EVERY newspaperman is saying Harry Greb hammered the crap out of Tommy Brenvinsky for 12 out of 12 rounds, and Tommy Brenvinsky is quoted as saying years later "I've never forgot that beating Greb put on me. He hammered the crap out of me, won every round" I'm tempted to call that A WIN FOR GREB.

Louis was one of my heroes growing up, but he got a gift against Jersey Joe, 'n it wouldn't have been a robbery if Farr got the nod.
