Riddick Bowe throwing his title in the bin. Tim Bradley by his own admission. Calzaghe demanding the crown jewels.
Floyd/Margarito. It might be unfair to Floyd since there's always at least two sides to every story but whenever I hear the word "duck" in boxing, FLoyd ducking Margarito is the first thing that comes to mind.:conf
You can't be serious. Its obvious that Arum doesn't want any of his fighters close to Mayweather. Besides, Floyd dominated the guy who KOed Margarito. Ducking is not wanting to fight a guy that you have a good feeling will defeat you.
Avoiding/refusing a fighter when you know he would be a challenge for you. This includes making up any kind of excuse, that isn't legitimate. e.g. - The Money isn't good enough (When really you just don't want to take a risk against a fighter out of fear of losing)
Ducking is the intentional avoidance a perticular fighter that by the preponderence of public opinion you should be fighting. I dont know what the **** I just said , but I said it.
I like to rank ducking in boxer units. One JCC jr unit is getting a paper belt and then avoiding the true champ (Martinez). 2 JCC jr's add up to one unit of Haye, that ran from K-bros for 2.5 years while defending a paper belt. And 2 units of Haye, or 4 JCC jr's, are a Povetkin. A Povetkin is an absolute unit of ducking, like 0K is the absolute zero for temperature. To measure someone as 1 Povetkin is to say the person became a mandatory title chalanger, toured germany with signs that said "Klitschko i want you" and then fake an injury to avoid the fight, only to become a mandatory one more time, not show up to a press conference, get dropped from IBF rankings and then somehow become a WBA champ after Wlad won the real belt against the real champion. I hope this clears it out for you.
Ive heard many excuses for this apparently it was Bowes management or trainers decision. Irrelevant after what he did if he wasn't ducking he was going out of his way to make it look like he was ducking. Just plain stupid
