Your dog's life depends on you getting the result right: Prime Jack Dempsey vs Prime Larry Holmes

Holmes would bully him for mine.

 

No dog in my house but there’s a cat, and a couple of goldfish. So I’d bet my kids’ goldfish on a Holmes points win.

I can see Larry having to weather some stormy seas before finally sailing home in calmer waters as Hurricane Jack eventually blows itself out. ..

But I wouldn’t risk the cat on it haha!

Larry has all the tools needed to beat Dempsey. But I have this nagging suspicion that if a clubber like Shavers could drop Holmes and a guy like Snipes then Jack getting to him ain't out of the question. What happens when Holmes gets off the floor with the Manassa Mauler would be epic.

 

Holmes wins UD with that piston like jab and superior ring craftsmanship keeping Dempsey at bay throughout the fight.

 

As much as Tunney - Dempsey 1 and 2 is as close to a blue print of this fight as you can get, Tyson-Holmes is also a very close blueprint as well. All times, saw Dempsey and Holmes past their prime, facing their stylistic nightmare.

I think it quite likely that Dempsey could catch and KO the Holmes who fought Tyson, just like Tyson Did. I also see Holmes outboxing a rusty Dempsey the way Tunney did in their first fight.

I guess that leaves us with a third fight. I can see it going the way of Holmes right up to Demsey landing clean on the chin and knocking him out. The difference here is that, unlike Tunney, Holmes has shown when he is knocked down, he doesnt box and move, he likes to stand and trade. Even with a big points lead this coudl go either way. I think Holmes has pulled enough of these type of wins out of the fire. I give him the slight advantage in any fight that ends up like this. Close fight though.
