I saw guys sparring in Harry Wiley's gym in Harlem, or at Gramacy downtown--I was kid, so I'm not sure which it was, my father took me up both places. It looked like fun--I was like 5 or 6, so what did I know?

first fight on tv was Emile Griffith, I have no recolection of opponent. Fight that made me a fan was an undercard fight, two guys who's names I don' t recolect, just prelim fighters, but it hooked me to sport even more.

My favorite fight that I saw live was a toss up, I'll go with Monzon-Licata. Monzon was in New York for only time to fight, and I was not missing it. He was better in person than on television. I saw a few better fights, but Monzon was big then, and as I said, he rarley fought in states, or on televsion. I think he defended title in Europe more than anywhere, and fight rights with states were tough to work out then.

The earliest memory of boxing I have is Tyson-Holmes. My favorite is probably Foreman's KO of Moorer, just witnessing history.
